Well after 62k miles over 16 years I've replaced the three engine bay fuel hoses. I decided to do it because of the discussions on PH and after the return line started weeping where where it connects to the copper return line. That leak was easily fixed by tightening the hose clip.

All three now replaced, the old hoses have zero cracks no matter how much I flex them and are as subtle as the new hose.

Sorry for the rant, just annoyed at the amount of effort for no gain

At least you can sleep safe in the knowledge they are now sorted, id agree that some of these problems get multiplied tenfold when they occur but regular maintenance checks are all that is needed.
A good quality fuel hose should give you many years of trouble free service.

All I can say is that I thought the same until this year when I took my car out of the garage for a blast. Luckily for me I had to get out of the car before driving off. I noticed a trail of fluid on the driveway, checked under the car & fuel was pissing out - dripping from the rear of the engine bay almost dead centre.

I checked the fuel lines at the rear of the engine bay and although they looked fine, when I flexed one, there were lateral cracks opening up on the inside bend.

Maybe TVR used different manufacturers but mine certainly gave up in a big way. I'm just glad I noticed otherwise I probably wouldn't have the car now (or worse).

If one car or driver can benefit from checking their hoses then great. It really isn't a scare story, unfortunately from my experience it's a scary fact.

Replacing fuel hoses seems to be about the only task on a TVR that is cheap and simple, with easily available parts.

Cheap insurance in my opinion, why would you take the risk?
