This exactly like the E9 3.0CS that I bought in 1988 and kept for 13 years. The same Baikal Blue colour, the same interior, same wheels...the only difference was mine was manual. I bought as a one owner car with circa 70K miles on the clock IIRC for £1500 (because I couldn't afford an E24).
Granted that was a while ago and this one does only have 11K miles on the clock but....look at the price! If only, eh?

Even so, your example sounds lovely, love the CS.
Nice to hear Ross has made it back behind the bike-sheds with us barge smokers!
I had a good weekend with my new 320 petrol 211. As promised, here are first impressions...
Picked it up on Friday morning and an hours drive home was pleasurable, the airmatic all round giving it a great floaty ride. Only problem I noted was that the comand kept nagging about not being able to read the nav dvd. I whipped the dvd out at home and gave it a clean and it's been fine since. The nav disk is a dodgy copy of a 2011update, I do have the original. I'm toying with trying to get hold of an image of a later map/firmware to burn to a dvd but not sure how safe that is.
Later on Friday, filled with wife and kids I drove it 250 miles North and it performed well. Indicated 30mpg over the trip and mostly doing a steady 79mph which I think must be about on par. It's more comfortable that the 124, I think because the ride is more compliant and a lighter interior makes it feel more airy and luxurious. Having 3x3 point belts across the back means we can put our youngest who's still in a rear facing seat on the edge of the bench rather than the middle which makes the car feel a lot less claustrophobic. It doesn't feel as well screwed together but not a world apart.
The return journey down South last night went well, the ambient lighting and dash etc. may be a novelty that'll wear off but made it feel special to me. The Harman-Kardon sound system is storming, particularly with dvd a soundtrack - time will tell if I miss the space in the boot the sub takes up. Right now it's been coded to allow dvd playback through the front screen on the move which the kids are very excited about, but I might get that de-activated due to insurance concerns. They are better off with tablets anyway I think.
I think the car is good, I had it up on the ramp at Pedro's place (local indy) today and it checked out well, they reckoned it's been looked after. And advised the following:-
- corroded exhaust hangers (common S211 problem - exhaust is stainless, hangers are not but can be welded back into shape).
- tired brake fluid
- slight leak top of engine, non urgent
- wrong kind of coolant to be sorted next service.
- some play but not excessive in ball joints at front
- already had an SBC pump replacement which is very good news.
It's going in tomorrow to have the brake fluid change and some welding to the exhaust hangers and the rest will wait until next time/when required.

In the end, even though I did make contact with the vendor, I bottled out. I know how much it can cost to restore an E9. So, despite all the sentimental arguments for buying it back (e.g. it was the car my wife and I drove away in from our wedding nearly 25 years ago and the car we brought our first child home from the hospital in,) I had to accept that my pockets just aren't deep enough.

Get an original disc pronto. Ebay is your friend. Copied discs kill Nav drives eventually. Don't know the exact science about why or how it does it but it does. The system also functions faster with an OEM disc loaded. I tried to burn one very slowly to see if that affected the quality of burn and the ability of the drive to read it but for whatever reason the original disc was always faster.
Sounds like you've got a good car there. Good spec, great price.
They all weep oil from the top, no biggie.
Enjoy.
We just completed 2000 miles down to the Auvergne and back (via our favourite vineyard on the fiver Cher) in the r129 we bought for 4k a month or so back.
It managed about 25mpg overall and impressed is hugely with its sheer ability and comfort, despatching the return journey of 14hours without any hiccups or discomfort.
The only things to have come to light are:
A whine from the rear - suspect a wheel bearing
A vibration from the rear at about 65 through to 90mph - possibly related to the wheel bearing otherwise I'll be looking at the propshaft. Definitely not wheel balancing as that was done before departure as we had already found the vibration and it made no difference.
Heater vents are stuck on windscreen/outer face vents so need to check the vacuum system (repaired the cracked vacuum distribution block in the 'module coffin' but that hasn't fixed it).
Aside from that its been great and we're dead chuffed with our wee barge....
In fact..
We might be in the market for another one. The trip to the Auvergne was to look at a second house to buy and if we go ahead we'll be looking for an old Mercedes Estate barge to leave over there....

That's pretty much how the story went for us. After we'd got our SL and enjoyed it I realised that old mercs are pretty satisfying and don't tend to go wrong too badly, so when our first son was born I got the 124 estate. If you are looking for one of those, I might know where one is...Question to the throng...
The car I bought was advertised on autotrader for £3950, I bought it a smidge less than that as is traditional. For some reason the vendor has kept the advert live, changed his phone number and the text reads 'sold' but he's dropped the price to £2200.
Why would he do that?

Bugger it..... Turns out changing the rocker cover gaskets on an E65 745i isn't an easy job.
About £100 each for the gaskets (!!!) and around 5 hours labour
Still..... That's the only outgoing this year for it in reality. Can't wait to get back behind the wheel again. All being well it could be this weekend. Car is at my specialist and will be finished tomorrow but due to work etc I wouldn't be able to collect Friday even if I can drive.

Lovely - it's running the original metric wheels though isn't it?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-BMW-635csi-HIGHLINE...
Yes, the wheels are the original TRX 415 'Black-line' type. Look nice but the tyres are now horrendously expensive and even new ones will be NOS as Michelin stopped making them years ago and the moulds no longer exist.
