Don't think I could possibly remember all. Too many to mention...

Most prolific would have to be Wishbone Ash who I've seen at least once every decade since the 70s

Other highlights would include:

The Who
Joe Satriani
Eric Clapton
Dr Feelgood

And I know this month I will be adding:

John Lees (Barclay James Harvest)
Martin Barre (Jethro Tull)

Seriously? I would have thought regardless of what type of music, hearing a band/group/artist live is much more interesting as there is pretty much always more energy and maybe a bit more spontaneity than any recording could deliver.

No idea, but as I was a sound engineer with a PA company, there will be lots. I was a touring sound man with Peaceville and Century Media, so lots of extreme metal bands as well.

One gig that I am remembering is a gig with Jazz Jamaica in the Derby West Indian Center in the early '90s, after the sound check me and Rico Rodriguez sat backstage, drinking Dragon Stout, while Brian Lara knocked the English bowlers all over the ground, him chortling and ribbing the white guy. RIP Rico, he passed away today.

Now I'm just laughing at you wink if ever there was a band where every song sounded the same, what ever you paid to get into that gig - you were robbed. hehe

Now my OCD is been kicking in because these lists aren't in alphabetical order; but a faded brain recalls

Alice Donut
Bauhaus
Bong Water
Bryan Adams
Dinosaur Jnr
Faith no More
Fall (The)
Hawkwind
INXS
Jesus Lizard (The)
John Ottway
Lee Scratch Perry
Levellers (The)
Lemonheads (The)
Macc Lads (The)
Marillion
Mega City Four
Membranes (The)
Mojo Nixon/Skid Roper
Ned's Atomic Dustbin
New Model Army
NIN
Nirvana
No Means No
Ozric Tentacles
Pop Will Eat Itself
Ramones
RDF
Seers (The)
Senseless Things (The)
Shakespear's Sister (were crap)
TAD
They Might Be Giants
T'Pau
Transvision Vamp
Wonderstuff (The)
You Slosh

Sorely missing from the list are
Arctic Monkeys
Dead Kennedy's
Jethro Tull
Stranglers
Strawberry Switchblade

Now I'll go back and read what everyone else has posted and no doubt find plenty #I've missed.

You mean nuggets waving guitars around on a stage?

This tune https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKgoj9K3dlg is where my name comes from and it's typical of what I've listened to for 20+ years, live doesn't/can't come into it. Plus a lot of the big artists use different aliases for each tune, especially for tunes which are slightly different in style so there's not so much emphasis on the 'group' or 'album' idea as in other genres, it's more based around the label. As an example Scott Brown has 35 aliases or 'groups' he is/was in, many for only one or two releases. I've probably got more than 100 records of his on just three labels, Evolution, Twisted Vinyl and Screwdriver. http://www.discogs.com/artist/6123-Scott-Brown

I've seen hundreds of DJs playing other peoples records though, if that counts. Plus the Scottish (and to a lesser extent Dutch) hardcore scene was well known for 'live' PA's which consisted of two people pretending to play keyboards, an MC, a few dancers and a banner across the stage with their name on. I've seen them all. Q-Tex, QFX, Ultra-Sonic, Dyewitness, Dance Overdose, Bass Reaction, The Rhythmic State, Ruffneck Alliance, NR Getik, Ultimate Buzz and many more I have since forgotten.

Apart from all that I only ever liked about three bands, Madness, The Specials and Blur and I wouldn't go out my way to see any of them.

I did sound for Blue Amazon, they had a DAT machine, but they did have a keyboard each, a guitar and a live vocalist and a sampler onstage. We used to get some strange looks when we turned up and wanted more than a stereo feed and a mic channel, ten channels and a proper monitor mix was unheard of...

Not a large list over 40 years, but I'm not that keen on live music.

Many years ago:

Queen - Dundee, just when they hit the big time
Baker Gurvitz Army - Edinburgh, brilliant (cost a quid)
Supertramp with Joan Armatrading as support - Newcastle (there was a girl involved)

In the nineties
Bob Dylan - wish I hadn't bothered.
Steve Winwood, very very good - (and again in Oz a few years ago)

In NZ over the last few years: all with an fantastic rating: (and showing my age)

John Mayall
Ringo Starr
Bootleg Beatles
10cc
The Seekers
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Hollies

Off the top of my head:

Marillion (lots) (First ever gig, Misplaced Childhood Tour, 1985)
Fish (lots)
Magnum
KISS (Loudest gig I've ever been to. My hearing began to clip before the end. Not good...)
Def Leppard (always good live)
Scorpions
Rush (lots)
Bryan Adams
Dream Disciples
Iron Maiden (Lots. Up the Irons)
Dave Lee Roth
Tangerine Dream
Peter Gabriel ('Up' tour, best live performance I've ever seen)
U2
Runrig
Ultravox
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (Been a fan since 1980, finally saw them live a couple of years back!)
Roger Waters
Aussie Pink Floyd

Biggest regret is not having seen Pink Floyd. Missed the boat on that one.

Want to get round to seeing Simple Minds, The Killers, Gary Numan, David Gilmour at some point.

I don't think I agree, I seem to recall enjoying it a lot. It was Reading Festival 1983, but technically I hadn't paid anything as we went to see The Stranglers who were headlining Friday night. Big Country, Pallas, Pendragon (and I think Hanoi Rocks as well) were just free bonuses.

Which reminds me I think I left a few off the list from a local music club:

Stiff Little Fingers
Buzzcocks
The Damned

All of these were around 2008-2009, then the club closed for the town to be developed, which has never happened.
