Foo Fighters @ Milton Keynes this weekend
Discussion
We are going on Saturday and have googled but can't seem to find any schedule times anywhere apart from gates opens at 4pm.
Royal Blood are now supporting as well as Iggy Pop and would like to see them, but it would be good to know roughly when each band is coming on stage to plan our day.
Anybody know?

Just found this on the MK bowl website:
We do not have the final timings yet: but as an estimate use, 5pm Royal Blood, 6pm Iggy Pop, 8pm Foo Fighters.
From what I'm told parking nearby is expensive and horrendous to get out after. We are planning an parking some distance away and walking in.

I am taking Mrs Bills and the Billettes on Sunday and we have booked parking as I would rather swallow the cost and time to make sure we get in somewhere. We plan to get there early so that we get a space near the entrance and then mooch about until the gates open.
Are Royal Blood confirmed for MK? I thought they were only doing Edinburgh.

This might help, couple of maps showing what roads are closed and where no waiting is allowed

I live about 10 minutes walk from MK Bowl and have driveway space
From what we saw last night £20-25 a car seems to be the going rate if your thinking is along those lines.and WHAT A SHOW!!!!!
Saw them a few years ago at the O2 and the Billettes have been moaning ever since that they missed that one. More than made up for it last night - over two hours on stage and a fantastic set with old and new stuff covering the whole lifespan of the band. I may be tempted to get tickets for Glasto next year as there were hints they would make up for their absence.
Now I just have to struggle through the rest of the day so that I can catch up on sleep. An hour to get out from Milton Keynes and another hour and a half on the motorway to get home.
Yawn......

We pre-booked parking, knowing what a nightmare it can be to find a space...We do not have the final timings yet: but as an estimate use, 5pm Royal Blood, 6pm Iggy Pop, 8pm Foo Fighters.

...except when we got there they had a sign saying the car park 'gate' would be closed preventing exit until all pedestrians had left the area. Cue 30mins of increasingly-pissed-off drivers waiting in a field until the jobsworths decide to let us go...
Utterly perplexed at this:-
- I 'get' the H&S issue, but they've just convinced people who handed over cash to park there that they should really park elsewhere if they want to get out quickly/easily. Which will exacerbate the whole parking-on-residential-roads issue that's a bugbear for locals.
- Those of us who drove/stayed sober typically did so as we needed to get up the following morning. Yet we had to wait for the drunks etc. (who clearly didn't have to get up this morning) to slowly stagger out...
Anyway, the gig:-
- Royal Blood - very impressed. Liked them a lot.
- Iggy Pop - was Iggy Pop. Altered, weird, but compelling at his best and rambling at his worst. Bit like Ozzy.
- Foos - good set, but not perfect. Aimed at the long-time fans, which was nice, but it lost a bit of cohesion in the middle and you could see them losing people's attention. The lack of Roger Taylor and JPJ was a bit of a shame, but overall they were as good as ever.
I parked near the train station (opposite a big Santander building) cost me £5 over the phone and walked to the bowl, besides getting a little lost on the way back trying to find the car we managed to leave MK with no traffic and straight onto the M1, after reading the horror stories of waiting for hours I was really chuffed (still didn't get home until 2am).
Anyway the foo fighters were absolutely outstanding so happy I've finally seen them!
Did anyone else think royal blood ran out of songs to play so tried to fill there time slot with long drawn out guitar/drum solos? That's not to say I didn't enjoy there performance I thought they were very good as was iggy pop.

What a gig! Royal Blood were brilliant, not a massive Iggy fan and he played most of the stuff I knew early on so my attention was wavering by the end but then Foo Fighters killed it!
Absolutely fantastic way to start 2 weeks off work.
Traffic:
Got back to the car park (car park A) where I was parked right at the back with a couple of films loaded on my tablet and a few snacks expecting a long wait.
30 minutes into Battle Royale I had a message from someone who got there earlier in the day and was at the front of the exit queue to say the gates were open.
Within 20 minutes I was out.
Took a slightly longer loop around the north of MK to get on a junction further north (I was heading south) and all the roads were clear. No waiting in long lines of traffic and I was comfortably up to cruising speed before passing the slip road with a non-stop line of traffic undoubtedly coming from the gig.
Quick toilet break and stretch at South Mimms to help break up the journey before getting back on the road and was tucked up in bed by 3am.

Again for future reference, we parked for free at the retail park near the station, in Maplins car park and did the 20-25 minute walk to the bowl. We actually asked Maplins and they said it was fine to park there, there is also parking on the roads outside. Coming out, we did the walk back, and then got straight out with no traffic problems.
Had a major issue going in as our tickets we bought from Stubhub had already been used, so we were refused entry and had to go and buy two more tickets from the box office. Needless to say we won't be using Stubhub again, and I'm now in the process of claiming my money back!
We heard most of Royal blood but only saw the last couple of tracks when we got in, I do like them a lot though. Iggy was a bit meh, other than a couple of tracks I like, but the Foo's were great and good to see RT and JPJ as well!

Traffic / parking - PITA on the way in (missed Royal Blood and half of Iggy Pop), and a PITA on the way out...
BUT
First Foo Fighters gig after having listened to them for a good few years, and had a great time. Had my daughter with me, and we both thought it was a great show with a mix of old and new, and plenty of our favourites.
Also, seeing Roger Taylor and JPJ was a real bonus - the last time I saw 'Under Pressure' live was when Queen played Wembley in 1986, so I was about the same age as my daughter is now ! A bit of a full-circle moment !!
