Singer Vehicle Design at Salon Prive

We've seen Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Dubai... say hello to Manchester!

Everyone is familiar with the work of Singer Vehicle Design on reimagining Porsche 911s by now. But given how spectacular the results continue to be, we hope you'll excuse a quick story on its latest creation.

Best angle?
Best angle?
This is the 'Manchester' car, another Singer product headed for the UK. It's currently being shown at Salon Prive for the weekend before reaching its owner. Given the incredible response to the 911 Targa shown at Goodwood, this 911 will surely bring in hoards of fans at Blenheim Palace.

It's the first car with the 4.0-litre Ed Pink engine in the UK, allied to a six-speed manual and limited-slip diff. The custom-valved Ohlins dampers and carbon panels, familiar from so many other reimaginations, also feature.

But it's the colour combination that's perhaps most intriguing. The paint is described as 'Wasabi' and evokes a real 70s vibe, matched inside by the 'Forest Green leather and custom leather-weave interior' weave. It's certainly distinctive and looks fantastic here in the LA sunshine; what do you reckon? How will it look in the UK?

So that's the latest from Singer, just as captivating as so many that have preceded it. If you want your own Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer, it quotes between eight and 10 months for the work. And hundreds of thousands of pounds. Back to dreaming then!

They're lovely products, I'm just staggered that they can manage to charge what they do for what is essentially just tarting up an old Porsche, to put it uncharitably. Fair play to them, I would if I could!

Having watched the various videos on Singer it's not really tarting-up an old car as so much of the original donor is replaced with modern bits as well as custom body panels. I am no engineer but it's the motoring equivalent of the "Six Million Dollar Man".

I think the colour and interior are simply stunning.

Wow. If you're going to go Seventies, might as well go hard. That is amazing.

My views may be slightly biased by the fact that I happened to have watched Dazed and Confused last night and have been listening to the soundtrack all morning. Anyone still got an 8-track?

("Slow Ride" by Foghat just came on.)

Having seen this in the flesh yesterday, it is a truly exquisite thing. The quality of the finish is almost jewel-like, it really is amazingly lovely! Congratulations to the lucky owner. The interior is just fabulous - the woven leather inspired. Stunning. Quite stunning.

This car is absolutely amazing. I would have one in a heartbeat if I had the funds.

These are wonderful things. Most of us can only dream.

Better than the originals, and recognised as such!

The exterior colour is very nice, but I'm not 100% sold on the door cards. Still, Singers are just soooo desirable in any colour combination.

This. I don't know of another car I'd rather own than one of these. I'd take one over any new hypercar.

My new ultimate car. As near to perfection as i've seen. My only wish would be a move to smaller diameter wheels with big fat tyres. More fitting for the 70s look.

Totally agree. If I had one of these I'd be a very happy chappy indeed. Nothing modern comes close, only something like a 288 GTO would sway me away (as if I'll ever be able to afford either)

IMO to mention those two in the same breath is a real insult to singer.

Perfection comes at a cost - For example, the new (bespoke) wiring harness alone costs Singer $30k...

The majority of people who can afford such a car know quality when they see it. They also know when someone is trying to rip them off - let the Singer order books be a testament to this.

I look forward to seeing this locally being a Manchester resident.

I wonder who has purchased it - footballer may be?

Yes it really is just "tarting" up an old Porsche. Are you mad.

Perhaps you should watch the documentary. It is not as if he is wealthy either.

I have drooled over every Singer I have seen on the web but that one is not for me....not a fan of the interior but fair play to the owner for being so bold.
