I am looking to get my alloy wheels refurbished and have found a company in central Scotland who are advertising they will do 4 wheels (of any size) for £128 or £88 if there are no tyres on the wheels. It is a full powder coating service.

I am worried about the lack of information on this company, all I can find on the internet is their own website and facebook page. They only do 4 different finishes (silver, black, white and anthracite) but that is fine as I want plain silver.

Would you risk your money and wheels for this price or would it be worth paying £250 and going to a company that have been recommended?

Can anybody recommend a company that have good prices around Glasgow?

Where is this out of interest?

I need a set of track wheels done and not overly bothered about the finish.

I'll report back when i get them done if you aren't in a rush.

If you google for "amys-international core 4" you will find them. Please note that I have nothing to do with this company and am not recommending them as I haven't see their work yet.

A company in Birmingham will repaint them for £35 a corner, get good reviews on the MG ZT / Rover 75 owners club.

I had mine done by a one man band in Suffolk for £160 (for 4), not the best quality but a million times better than how they were before.

So no - not way to cheap. But it does depend on what your expecting!

Cheers, the photo's on their website look pretty good so i'll give them a go with my old track wheels and see how they turn out. My track car wheels need done pretty regularly so that's a good price if they turn out ok, more so if they are powder coated.

To respond to the thread title, I had a set of 17s done some years ago for £120ish. Aesthetically, the finish was excellent. Some 3-4 years down the line, there are some reactions on the wheels which while not totally ruining the look would be an issue for most car-proud folk. I would suggest that the kind of price being discussed here is at the cheaper end of the market for a reason.

Well not wanting to be a guinea pig I dropped my alloys off at the wheel specialist yesterday. £240 all in. I know it is £110 more but I am quite happy that I know I will get great results.

I'm agonising over whether or not to get the Ignis wheels refurbished in white, or in bright yellow to match the Recaro script on the seats and fishnet headrests.

I'll most likely use the Wheel Specialist too.

SO... White or yellow?

£240 from The Wheel Specialist? What size wheels were they?
They quoted me £420 for my Audi 18s last year, need to get the Aston's 19s done now but dread to think what they'll quote me this time!

In Aberdeen if there are any recommendations other than TWS. Cheers.

Sandman Ive never given much weight to the saying you only get what you pay for. I always went along the lines of someone must be doing a good rate for whatever I was buying and that expensive wasn't always the best. However, a few things over the past while have made me rethink this. I bought cheap emulsion for decorating, big mistake, was like dishwater and needed multiple coats, gave up bought the dear stuff , 2 coats , job done. Lesson learnt, don't scrimp on emulsion. Next was my window tinting on the car , you may have seen the thread.

Im also of the opinion that some companies take the p155 with their prices. Scottish Wheel Centre in Cambuslang have been around in one guise or another for a long time 20+ years and Ive never had a decent price off them for anything whether a refurb, a part, a tyre, or a set of alloys - always extortionate in my opinion compared to others who have quoted. Its individual choice at the end of the day.

Have rather annoyingly damaged one of my alloys on my BMW, Powdertec quoting £65 for a 19inch wheel. They are local to me so was planning on going with them unless anyone has any suggestions for somewhere else near the city centre?

I used Motorwerks on forest avenue lane to get the wheels done on my wifes A4, they use a company that will take yours in return for a nice shiny set (if they have them in stock) or send away the ones you have.

They did a really nice job, but didn't have the wheels in stock so her car was in our garage for a few days without wheels.
