A track launch for one of these is a bit odd. Surely some good roads in the mountains or something would have been better?

The 10hp upgrade doesn't really seem much to shout about but it'll be the extra spec that sells it.

I quite like the vRS (am expecting delivery of one as my company car in a few weeks). I'm under no illusion that it's the fastest car on the road though. It's acceptably brisk, well specc'd with lots of space or chucking bikes in. It's a bit less chavtastic than the ST estate which was my other consideration.

Only 230bhp from a 2.0 turbo is a bit wk.

The K20A in the FD2 puts out more than that....and that's N/A!!

...and before any woosh parrots are required I am simply pointing out that the logic behind the comparison is somewhat faulted.

Well they're certainly not discreet anymore.

Solid car IMO. Probably would not have needed the diff, still nice it gets it.

I don't need that big a car though. Smaller / simpler / lighter would be nice. They obviously don't see a market since they even pulled the plug on the fast Fabia. But can't help thinking a Rapid with the Polo GTI running gear would be an ace daily. Especially since they went back to a 1.8 and manual gearbox.

laugh

Nothing more than a brisk family wagon, bizarre choice to throw it on a track for a press release though? Even if it does have the diff from the GTI PP

The car I want when I need to be all sensible and grown up in a few years. Fancy a wagon in flat grey so hope a few get snapped up and appear in the classified when I'm ready to make the move.

It's sad that the most powerful engine offered in the Fabia & Rapid is the 1.2 TSI 110hp - & because of that I'll have to look else where when I look for a new car.

Yup, we get a Rapid with a 125 PS 1.4 TSI, but that is a) not enough and b) DSG only. Fast Octavia is OK, but too big for my needs -- so no Skoda for me.

These are going up in price. I recall the petrol hatch version was on offer at £16k in 2008!
Do the words "financial crysis" ring a bell? Cars in UK went up 30-ish % since 2008-2011.

Looks like VRS might have a decent interior at last.

I think it looks good. If I wanted a car to take to the track, I wouldn't have bought an Octavia...

Pretty happy with my normal VRS TSI Estate, and I don't think I drive it like vRS drivers clearly have a reputation for doing! Supposed to respond well to a remap too: Revo reckon >300bhp and >320 lbft.
