Hi Folks,

Anyone else experiencing a delay on their factory ordered beemer? Ordered my 335d m sport tourer back in June but obviously the new model didn't come out until mid-end July. I had mid September as an initial delivery date which has now moved to 12th October. Apparently there are 'factory delays' on the higher powered cars.

Had a go for a courtesy car but BMW aren't having any of it.

Just wondered if there's others in the same situation?

Cheers

I ordered my 335d touring on June 25th.
Initially the date the lease company gave me was September 30th, a couple of weeks later this was moved to October 30th.
I asked the lease company what the delay was and never got a direct reply, the problem being that the delay would then not overlap with my existing lease and would cause issues for several weeks.
A couple of weeks later i received a phone call from the lease company to say it had been moved back to September 30th, I am rather skeptical that the new date will be hit!
I can see no reason for this to be reverted other than the lease company telling porkies in the hope i would not cancel the car due to the overlap now not matching up...

Have you ordered M Sport brakes? I seem to remember they had delays on these a year or two ago?

I ordered a 340i yesterday and was quoted end of October which was surprising. No big brakes though on my order.

No big brakes on mine however the calipers are exactly the same. The Msport plus just paint them blue. Given the hardware is he same, i can't see why painted calipers would delay the build.

That said, the wait is worth it. The car is an absolute weapon.

We were told a few months ago that it would be December for one by the bmw dealer commercial manager so we ended going for some already built and in stock .

Dealers have different build slots with the manufacturer. Dependant on thier size and value to bmw will influence how quickly you get your car.

Not sure how big they are compared to other, they've got quite a lot of cars though as I think they cover a pretty wide area and also have the mini showroom down the road. But then could be tiny to some other dealers lol

It's Harry Fairbairn in Giffnock. Owned by Arnold Clark.

Also noticed that Nationwide Vehicle Contracts state Dec.

Interesting replies - cheers folk. Technically I ordered mine at the end of May so i'm surprised why I have such a late delivery date but it's interesting to hear how the dealers have different slots based on their value to BMW. From discussions with the lease company I believe the funder uses Cooper BMW Thames Ditton - https://www.cooperbmw.co.uk/retail-centres/bmw-tha...

I do have the M Sport Brakes spec'd and likewise I've heard about delays because of them in previous years so maybe it's that.

The strange thing is that the lease company won't tell me the build date - I keep asking but they won't tell me - only "It's currently tracking to arrive...." which makes me think the build has not even been confirmed! If I had to guess they've messed up the order or didn't put it in until late.

They have done a 'pull forward' apparently so who knows - it's good to hear others have had their build/delivery dates come forward - means there is still hope!

Still as you guys say - it'll be worth the wait!

Also quick question re running the car in - I've read various schools of thought on this - "It's a lease car, run it hard from the start" or "Just drive varied" etc. It's my first 'new' car and was fully expecting to run it in but I feel i'll be wasting precious mileage allowance not being able to use it to it's fullest!

  • Update*
Heard from the lease company - car is down as week 39 for build so 21st September. Surely it won't arrive on week 42 as quoted if it's not being built until week 39? Does it not take 3-4 weeks for delivery after that?

Argh - be glad to get the confirmation it's actually being built soon!

Ordered a 340i touring today, estimated delivery is end of October. This includes M Sport plus pack which has the M Sport brakes so no delays there.

Interesting - can't be the M sport brakes then!

Got an update to say it's at status 1200 awaiting move to 5055 production start. Read over on baby bmw forum that production should be within a week ideally then delivery is 2-3 weeks all being well so fingers crossed it might actually arrive when they say! Here's the thread in question - http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=62027...

Also the lease company reckon it normally moves from 1200 to 5055 earlier than planned - I hope so!!

I ordered a 330d saloon last Friday and upgraded it to a 335d saloon the following Monday.

I was told mid November for delivery for both the 330d and 335d, with no mention of delays for the high powered models.

I ordered a 335D M Sport touring through Leaseplan, they advised that the order had gone in to BMW by the dealer on 22 July and estimated October delivery, they have subsequently put it back to November and over the weekend advised estimated delivery was now 28 December.

I'm not clear if it's just general delays or something about the spec, it has adaptive, HK, 441 wheels, icon lights and a few other little bits like heated seats, nothing that I would have thought would be too challenging but 6 weeks seems to be turning into 6 months!

O

Oh dear - sorry to hear! That does not sound good and doesn't fill me with much hope for mine! Hoping as I ordered in May it might arrive in October as planned. I guess you don't have a build week scheduled yet? Maybe it is delays then, mine also has adaptive and heated seats - the lease company told me the deal was so good that there was too much demand and BMW can't deliver quick enough!

When I spoke to the lease co yesterday they said build week 52 which doesnt make delivery in week 52 credible. They are making further enquiries to ascertain what the cause of the delay is, ie demand surge, supply chain issue or extras issue.

Yeah that is odd! That's just like my lease co - my build week seems too close to the supposed delivery week to be true. I've now contacted BMW directly to see if they will give me some more information and verify what is causing the delay. I have a feeling my lease co forgot to put the order in or did it too late. Hope yours gets sorted - i'm fed up of seeing people driving around in new 3 series' and i'm still waiting!
