Hello everyone, as we all know the under bonnet temps on these beautiful machines can be quite temperamental in stop and go traffic.
I think I may have found a solution, It works for me and I'm driving in 90 degree (f) temps all day long with out issue.
I installed two Spal 4 inch fans ( 30103009) in the rear grill area between exhaust tips. They are controlled by a Flexlite Variable speed controller (31165), the controller uses a temp probe that would normally go thru the fins on a radiator. I mounted the probe to the frame of the car above the transaxle.

Before all this, when I sat in traffic after getting off a highway, my temp gauage would climb to as high as 235 F.
Since installing fans, I engine temp gauge climbs no higher then 195 F.

It seems all the over heat issues some have been having is the fact that the engine is becoming heat soaked after long drives.

I saw the above solution on a Ferrari, I seem to be on the right track, so I figured I would share my success with everyone.

Cheers,
Bob Scocca

Here are two photos of rear fans (3) installed between rear exhaust tips.

each fan pushes 147 cfm and draws less then 2.2 amps. I have all three running thru same controller that would be used for a radiator. sensor probe mounted directly to frame .

fans are mounted directly onto the rear mesh with black button head screws and nylock nuts. sounds like a mini twister going on back their but it does remove the hot air rather quick.

I think I have seen this on the back of the P1 also. Although that might be for the Charge Cooler low temp rads.

Any reason for only going for 3 small fans rather than some larger ones?

Space issue, under fans are rain light and back up camera.

That does look like a good solution. How noticeable are the fans from the rear (photo would be good! wink)?

This is not the best solution. I had a problem with the engine temperature and fuel.
I solved this definitely like this:
1-I changed a little thinner coolers on the company Radtec.
2-swapped fans on a much firmer
3-I installed two fans pushing the cold air causing the engine from outside. Just like the Porsche 911 / new model /
4-shaded firewall expansion tank of fuel.
5-founded fuel coolers with a fan.
Excellent effect. The engine temperature is maintained in the range of 88-94. This year, the summer was extremely hot. I stood in traffic in Italy and Croatia. No problems.
In the past when I tried to open the rear hood and was putting his hand to open the upper latch had to wear gloves so it was hot. Now I open your bare hand and do not feel the hot air.
Good luck !!!

Nabbott--From the rear of the car, unless you look close you do not see the fans. Mounted with black button head screws.
I'll post a photo in the morning.

Georg-- I'm glad your solution worked. Many different solutions to same issue, options are always a good thing.smile

Good work that man! I'm thinking I may struggle due to the fact that I have a 'Long' gearbox (the whole selector actually protrudes through the mesh). But perhaps I could get away with two.....

On the other hand, I may need to address my cars total lack of engine first laugh

I know you had some under clam heat issues but total engine removal is way to extreme - schoolboy error me thinks

No Fans on the oil cooler yet, Wrapping silencers was just a preventative thing, I'm sure it helped a little.

Rscocca, Your onto something with the fans, saw this GT3 RS today. Great idea!
