I've used Cyanogen before so I'm fine with that, only thing I'm bothered about is whether the camera is any good.
Obligatory comment that "good" will vary on your requirements. If you want stunning low light performance, a decent flash, then there isn't a phone on the market that will count as good (LEDs are useless for stills, although they're handy for video).

The Wileyfox Storm is using a Sony 20mp sensor, which is likely similar to that used in a variety of Sony kit - maybe Z2/Z3 levels, but without Sonys lousy post processing (I'm hoping the Z5 is a return to their old form).
Roughly around the same performance as the S4/S5 sort of area. The one I bought previously, I just checked my Amazon orders

XRT Swift, 5.5 inch screen
3GB RAM, 48GB ROM
20Mp camera
Dual SIM
4800Mih battery

I dont think I've ever used a worse camera. It was interpolated up, I'd guess the actual sensor was somewhere around 5 megapixels, even on a tripod mount I couldnt get anything without a bit of shake with no zoom on it. With zoom, it was just a pixelated mess. But on paper, it had a 20Mp camera so that's why I'm dubious. Sony make great sensors, they also made some right stters as well
Over the last 5 years, Sony have made some brilliant sensors. Catch is that Sony themselves do a lousy job in their post processing. Others make better use of the same sensors.

For me, yes. I'd pay a lot more than that for a good camera - one of the reasons I still use an iPhone as my daily.
The iPhones, that invariably use a standard Sony sensor .... but as I said above, everyone else that uses Sony sensors tends to make better use of them than Sony do in their own kit.

I wish that someone would seriously ignore this irritating trend for "thin" and make a phone with a truly decent all round sensor, preferably with a xenon flash. Ideally with an ND filter and OIS. Sod the size, it wouldn't actually be that large.

I love the idea of something like the Sony QX-100 but which shoots RAW, without any connectivity issues and that'll let you take full manual control. I think the concept is excellent, it's just the execution that's not quite there.

Well, that and the fact that it'd be priced in RX100 II territory.

the Vodafone smart ultra 6 would be my guess its £125
Locked to Vodafone though, which is a shame.
It's actually £3.50 to unlock on eBay. Got one purely for the contract (£9.50 a month with all the mins/texts/data that I require) and bought the code via eBay and that was that.

Camera isn't great though. Compared alongside my old iPhone 6 taking the same picture at the same time and the ultra 6 picture was blocky when you zoomed in, you couldn't read the text in the background and the colours looked a little flat.

Not a bad screen though.

so the Wileyfox Swift has been delayed till 30th of September. Not getting too much love on Facebook for there lack luster replies to technical questions etc. I have a Chinese phone, a UMI Zero. Its been awful. google Nav, Nokia Here and Waze don't work. GPS is shocking. Even the check in function on FB doesn't work with it. I asked if the above would work with the Swift or more importantly the forthcoming Storm. Waited a week for a response, when i got one i was told...."we don't know". Not exactly what you want to hear, also given its a new company relying on social media for promo you'd think they would be faster at responding and have better answers. Also rumors are circulating its simply a re-branded Turkish handset.

Ive done a quick Google and can find no rumours of that kind?

Theregister gave it a great review too.

It is supposed to be the "General Mobile 4G".....Only simply re-branded and with Cyanogen

Rear camera locations don't appear to match up, unless I'm missing something?

Bought the storm on ebuyer with delivery to come this Monday!
That'll be interesting to see if it comes laugh
My note 2 went into suicide mode - master reset then said every process had stopped working stopping me from setting the phone up. Did a reset via the safe mode thingy in the end and lost all my data frown

Couple of tests so far have said the camera has a fair bit of lag. I wasn't expecting massive amazing stuff from it but it sounds enough to give it a miss

It's really good to see that it's getting some interest. It's due out at the end of this month. We are trying to create something that appeals to parts of the marketplace that we think are poorly served. There are a number of features (privacy/Truecaller/24 bit audio/theming/superfast browser etc)which may float your boats (both products). Some of it may not. All the best and enjoy whatever it is you do buy. Cheers, Nick

Whilst browsing through a 'what phone,' thread I saw passing mention of the Wileyfox Storm, and after some digging I have to admit I'm intrigued.

Plenty of internet touting of the UK's answer to the OnePlusOne. But that's just noise. What I'm more interested in is the brass tacks.

£200.
64-bit Octa-core 1.5GHz processor.
3gb RAM.
32gb memory plus microSD (up to 128gb.) Or 2nd SIM in place of microSD.
LG 5.5" 1080p IPS display at 440ppi.
20MP Sony back camera and 8MP front camera.
Cyanogen 12.1.

Looks wise, I like it. I don't much care for the 'premium feel,' that Techradar et al bang on about, and to me it looks a bit different to the norm. Not that it'll matter much inside some sort of case or shell, but first impressions aren't bad at all.

Back to the specs, I have to admit the marketing has worked on me. Sony camera. LG screen. Qualcomm Snapdragon Octacore processor. None of those things sound cheap, and they're all trusted names in the mobile industry.

I'm seriously considering finishing up my contract then getting one on a SIM only deal. It doesn't look like an S6 beater, but if it's put together properly then it could be a lot of phone for £200.

Hi BigsimonY

We did have a short supply chain delay, yes. We are also a small startup so our coverage of social media is something of a work in progress. You are however quite right, it wasn't good enough. We are beginning to get better now.

As re the handset (Swift) it'll be back in stock this week (we sold out). It was software engineered in Europe with Cyanogen, so works cleanly with all Android Apps compatible with 5.1, which it runs alongside Cyanogen 12.1

Not a rebranded variant of the Turkish handset, although much is similar. Ours comes with Cyanogen which has a number of uniques which may or may not appeal. Appreciate it may not be the phone for you, but apologise for the lacklustre beginning on the social.

Cheers, Nick

Nick, whats up with the camera, is it as laggy as what reports are saying or are they (read I) expecting too much for the price point?

Hi Andy

Mine is OK - takes good shots and can set it to zero-lag in Auto - but there are better out there (although not at this price imho). That said I am investigating; I have heard similar once or twice and narrowing down to HD shots on moving images. It's a Samsung unit, but any issues will be software related. Always looking to update if we can.

Cheers, Nick

Cheers, nice to get some straight talk

Next q...: Have you forked the OS, as in will my banking apps go mental at whether the phone's showing up as rooted or is this vanilla enough that the extra picky super sensitive NatWest app will actually decide to work?

NP at all. Not forked, no (nor rooted in retail format). It's a commercial, tested and fully integrated variant of Cyanogen 12.1 (first one in Europe). I use Barclays and it's fine.

Final one! My S4 with Lollipop needs 6.8 Gigs of space for the OS. On a 16 GB phone that's quite hefty, though I have a micro SD card.

What's the Storm/Swift like, or I guess, what's your version of Cyanogen like, how heavy is it with onboard storage?

It's sold on the website as a Sony camera?
And will it shoot RAW?

Very refreshing to see someone from the company active on social media, and very big of you to acknowledge a slow start to the reply's. Im still very much interested in your Storm Handset. Its a 3 way race between Moto X Play, Storm, or top end of budget Nexus 5X. I'm not sure the nexus 5x is going to be £130 better than the Storm so its most likely really between the Storm or X play . My biggest concern is will it run Nokia here/Waze/google nav.
