Three rogue engineers are to blame for the VW fiasco according to one of their bosses.

It was not a corporate decision.Engineers retire with a few million each and live happy ever after.

If we have to believe this la la land is ours.

Got a letter today from Toyota and the authorities combined saying both my airbags in the yaris have been defective since I bought it, both passenger and driver.

It's a 2008 car so it seems I have been driving around all these years with dodgy kit. Life threatening compared to VW it seems.

I'm not too arsed about it to be honest. It's still waiting to go back for a recall on the power window switch for the last 3 years.

But the airbags not working as designed are more an issue than emissions.

She Angela Merkel is a ex scientist never mind if VW owned her or not.Something like this can't be swept under the carpet.Customers with any sense will walk away from future diesel buys. The diesel test has to be more akin to real live situations I.E driving in traffic stop start etc.And be independent from the manufacturer.Regarding Toyota, they won't have deliberately put in their Yaris car a faulty airbag. You can't compare the two VW knew what they where doing. This fiasco has a lot to do with being big headed,VW engineers could have gone the LPG or natural gas way.Petrol cars can be easily converted to natural gas emissions very clean.Students in the prov.of Groningen (Netherlands) High Tech school proved the system.
