How are they remapping the car, have they managed to break the chips encryption? I didn't think anyone had done this yet on the F series M cars.

I would be interested in hearing what they actually can do.

Eh?? behind the times I guess??

F series has been "cracked" for some time now. So yes ecu can remapped.

AC is just a tuning box I think. nothing wrong with that the US guys go mad for Burger tuning. awesome results

So they can remap through the OBD port and away you go? Do you have an F series M car have you had this done?

not the first time, no. Once ECU has been opened and password read it can theN be done through OBD.

Uhhhmm the price?

It's £3500 for a PLUG IN TUNING BOX. not even a proper remap.

As a dealer option, fine. As an aftermarket, absolutely no! Even though, yes, you get the benefit of the warranty.

For comparison a tuning box for most other cars is around £300. And they will be no more or less complex.

NO they can not, the ECU has to come out.
Also the new software at dealerships now reads the key on the way into the workshops, this logs ( so a tech told me) the boost and many other parameters.
This may only apply to 2015 on cars though not sure on that.
Does make a re-map a risk though.

Yes, DMS definitely have a Stage 1 tune for the M3/4 along with a top speed delimit. I believe they also have Stage 2 either ready now or will very soon be. Only place i'd take a BMW M but then i guess i'm biased.

A friend of mine had his Turbo done there recently (416hp to 513hp) and was back last week getting his Boxster done also. At the same time a chap was in there with his new M4 and left with 525hp.

Yeah I didn't think they could hence the question around whether he had this done, seems a lot of messing around and as you say they can tell.

That's dealer BS. The key only holds CBS data & Profile details, not performance data is held on the key or the diagnostic areas of the ECU.

I know that Audi can tell straight away as part of the service routine, it gives TD1 notice. I have had the same feedback from my BMW dealer saying they can tell.

Shoving 720hp through the car is a dangerous game if you aren't willing/able to stand on and instead try and rely on the BMW warranty if it goes bang.

The risk is low for an engine to go bang is it not?? How many have went bang??

I've not seen any hard evidence of them going bang in my short time of research but if it did then there would be plenty of tears shed!

The Americans seem to be pushing the boundaries and seems to be clutches is the first thing that starts to fail when power limits are reached on stock running gear...

Excitement nearly always is the result of taking some sort of risk

What will you do with yours Paul, went you hand it back, remove the remap?.
Get DMS to return it to stock?.
