My next bike; a Daytona 955i?

The 675 isn't short of torque either, a lovely wide power band which means you aren't constantly having to stir the gears if you're in bimble mode.
Well having ridden both I would say my arse dyno calibrates as the 955i 140bhp Daytona as having more torque and easier normal speed riding then the 675 115bhp Daytona. Not saying the 955i is better then the 675, because its not. The 675 is a nimble completely differnt league of sport bike then the 955i. Also depends on how heavy the rider is I guess...Also to be fair the OP isn't asking about the 675. Its a completely differnt bike and differnt price bracket.

This is good advice. The 675 is a much nimbler bike and feels so different.
However the 955 is a great sport tourer type with 140bhp, which isnt too shabby.
140bhp my hairy arse, I have had several and there is no way in hell they are putting out that, 120bhp on a very good day would be more accurate. However the 955 is a great sport tourer type with 140bhp, which isnt too shabby.
Like I said I have had several, but wouldn't have another, the 929 'blade is far superior, and much faster, as is the ZX9R.

Read the spec.
I dont carry a dyno with me but I am just talking about what the spec sheets say. You may have your own opinion but their is nothing wrong with quoting Triumph or a publication like MCN.
Your bike might been a st one.
Also we discussed the Japanese making better bikes and said that the 955i has its own charm.
I think were all done here.

Which one was the st one? I've had four, plus a speed triple which was 20bhp down on all of them, they are nice torquey bikes but the alternatives are better in my opinion and having owned pretty much all of the Daytona's competitors I think I'm qualified to comment. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/triumph...

Obviously you're better placed than any of us to comment on them. I'd read in many places that they're a bike you'd either love or hate, but apathy would be a rare response. What kept you coming back to them?
I like them, ultimately its not about outright power figures, they are a very characterful bike and I'm in no way slagging them, but they have their issues, as does any bike.Jazoli said:

Id say 140bhp is plausible, i had my 02 955i dssa dyno'd last year putting out 126 rwhpLike I said I have had several, but wouldn't have another, the 929 'blade is far superior, and much faster, as is the ZX9R.
Although the 42mpg they reckon is optmistic

Went to see the bike on the weekend, and…it won’t be for me, sadly. Appreciative of all the effort and replies in this thread, but it felt a very physically big bike, and the reach to the bars was not comfortable for me (I must have midget arms…) – stonking great big thing tho’, that sounded fantastic.

OP: We have invested too much for you to back out of this now! We have turned this into a heated debate and as such I demand you reconsider your position!
Apprarently a popular modification if to swap the clip ons to those from a Triumph Sprint of the same vintage. Suddenly the bars become all VFR 800 like.
