As winter is approaching I thought it would be a good idea to T-Cut the Velocefica-mobile.

T-Cut recommends you wax the car with a 'quality' product.

Basically I just want to keep the cars paintwork as good as possible throughout the harsh or not so harsh autumn/winter weather.

Not looking for something that's £500+ a tub.

Collinite wax is brilliant stuff we use 476 the product name it lasts absolutely ages. Probably do over 100+ cars/coats per tub.

Is T-Cut still the harsh, abrasive product I remember?
Unless you have poor paint that needs cutting there may be better alternatives.

The best wax I have ever used is Autosmarts wax. You could either look out for the reps truck around car dealerships (They will sell to the public not just the trade) or buy it from eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autosmart-170G-Autosmart...

Its the best on off wax I have ever used and the results are excellent and it lasts for a long time

Another vote for Collinite 476.

I put 5 layers on at the start of every winter! smile

i personally cant stand TCut. ^5 layers of colli sounds a smudge overkill, one layer is a double coat! but i suppose you can never have too much.

For a last step wax with minimal fuss its either Colli 476s as mentioned, or my personal fave is FinishKare 452.

T cut was fine in the 1970s when there was nothing else about. The 476 wax suggested is very good but if you want something from the likes of Halfords then autoglym products are hard to beat.
Autosmart mirror image is a good product too.

You can't go far wrong with Collinite 476S or Finish Kare 1000P for a durable wax.

cheers

This. Both great products that won't require a bank loan.

Got given a half bottle of Auto Glym Super Resin Polish today by a friend.

Is it any good?

Highly Recommended, but will it give the same protection and finish as a high end wax .

It cost him about £7 trade so for free i probably shouldn't be complaining

Super Resin is a filler heavy polish, ever so slightly abrasive. I view it more as a paint cleanser as it's cleansing/filling abilities far outweigh it's abrasiveness. It also offers next to no protection on it's own so requires topping with a wax or sealant.

It won't do any harm, but it does need waxing afterwards.

T Cut scratches the living daylights out of your paint. It has its uses but don't use it as a general polish.

If you are hand polishing Auto Glym SRP will do a good job. For winter if you are looking for protection add long lasting Wax like Colinite 2 x coats of this will last all winter.

As above, I'd use the Auto Glym SRP, rather than the T Cut. Then wax over the top.

I like Auto Finesse waxes, but there are so many options, and any wax is better than no wax.

T-Cut is pretty harsh - is the paintwork in really bad condition at the moment? Got any pics?

The chrome around the windows is milky /cloudy and i've tried proper peek chrome polish and it makes no difference.

Think it's just oxidised, anyone got a solution or homemade remedy.

Heres a photo of the worst of it.
