I've been watching the values going up recently - sold mine last year and can't find a similar car for the same price. A year ago, coupes were selling for the price that good convertibles are now going at?!
What intrigues me is the lack of Saloons about - I have only seen one on the road in the past few months and very few on sale. Does anyone know how many they made?

I think these cars will keep climbing steadily. They most probably will not see the crazy appreciation that e30 m3s have - BUT I don't think anybody 10 years ago thought immaculate evo2s would be going for 60-80k today! I remember 3 years back you could buy an e30 m3 needing work for 15-16k and very good ones for 22/23!

To those who thought the e36 is going to double this year - you need a reality check! If you have a good one with service history, hold it for a while!
In 3-4 years your £8k car will be worth closer to 15! Just remember that 2 years ago you could get a decent one for £4k while nobody really wanted them and most people were tracking them. Now £4k will buy you a dog- I know because I have been to view a number of cars around the 5k mark- they all needed atleast £2k+all your time to make them very good again! I think a coupe in very good condition reading around the 100k miles is around the 8k mark, verts £2-3k cheaper. Saloons - the last one I went to see was a dog - 120k miles, needed considerable bodywork, vanos rebuild and interior was poor and the seller took £4500 after I turned it down!

So does anybody have pics of their cars? I really think that Dakar Yellow is one of the hottest colours!!

This was on sale earlier in the year. Didn't realize you had restored it from a bare shell though.
Looks lovely.

Craig on here has a very nice example of the E36 in that colour. I'm guessing he'll see this thread sooner or later.

All my non petrolhead mates take this piss saying it's orange! Not that standard nowadays, but in good nick even though it gets driven quite hard. Recently rebuilt diff and shortened ratio, app front setup. If it creeps up in value then great, but to me I just enjoy the balance and great handling and use it as intended. Like yourself I wouldn't like to tot up all the bills and there are cars out there that haven't had half the work we've done to ours at 7/8k.Time will tell and if I had a spare 15k I'd buy yours and hibernate it tomorrow. Good luck with the sale.

Pic of my M£ Evo Convertible.

In fairness bought it a few years ago when the market was low - it was the poster I had in the wall as a teenager.

With how the prices have risen it not been free motoring but not bad considering what a hell of a car an M3 is - they genuinely are such nice cars and I love every time I get a site of mine (its my weekend car so spends it time under a car cover mostly).

Its current in Iridium Bmw Specialists having the vanos oil pump fixed since the pressure is low as well as a new radiator and a few tweaks - even after a scary bill its worth every penny.

I was looking at an E36 M3 saloon as my daily but like already mentioned they are hard to come by and if you can they tend to be rotten - chickened out and got an E90 330i instead.

I'm 11 years in and selling is the furthest thought from my mind. I've far too many good memories to ever part with the mighty Tardis !

Taken a good few years ago now. Who says BMW's are rubbish in the snow? smile

At the top of the Col d'Izoard back in 2007 on the FB5k tour.

Taking on the mighty Eau rouge.

I have bundles more but wont bore you with them but you get the gist. smile

A good E36 M3 is a lovely thing indeed. Well proportioned and not in your face. The current M4 cannot hold a candle to the E36, though the current M3 is a good looking car.

The m4 is stunning- imo.
I prefer saloon/coupe/vert - in that order as far as the e36 goes.
When slightly lowered, the saloons look so sleek.
I've never seen a yellow saloon though- that would be quite rare.
Black/purple are probably my favourite colours from the ones I've set my eyes on.

I got to exercise my friend's last week - on an evening blast I was quickly reminded of the thrill the car provides ringing it out to 7300rpm and threading it through some fast bends. Heel and toe down changes accompanied by the flare in revs and snicking through the box, then a shake of the hips and a nudge of oppo on corner exit - for me so much more engaging at road speeds than any modern M.. (sorry OP would upload a picture but can't from my phone!)

After selling my E34 M5 LE earlier this year I needed another M car so opted for a M3 EVO saloon for obvious reasons lol.

I don't think I have seen another with this spec - extended nappa leather / heated seats / hifi speaker system / pdc / rear blind.
Black on black is a nice combo I think, not a fan of the silver grey trims.

Since buying that I've had another 2 evo's which I sold recently at £3250 each, both needing a little work to get upto standard.

Saloons only in limited numbers for UK
3.0l m3 saloon only 415 rhd built
3.2 evo saloons 694 rhd's built
3.2 evo coupes and convertibles are in around 2 to 3000 each I think
No doubt a lot have ended up donating there engines to the e30 owners or become track cars, not many decent example left out there now.

The cosmos black saloon is my daily which I would consider selling if anyone was looking to buy.
