It's very rare for me not to know what to wear and my wardrobe is pretty extensive.

I'm going to the British masters golf at Woburn at the weekend, I'm not a golfist but I'm looking forward to it.

I am however at a loss as to what to wear, it's not a hospitality thing, just walking the course with the masses.

What's the normal attire please?

Neutral colours, nothing OTT.
Tuck your shirt in.
No denim.
No giant/flashy logos for sports teams etc

Don't wear golfing shoes, you'll look like a tosser.

Tartan plus fours, pink Pringle jumper, knee length yellow socks, white golf shoes, finished off with a golf ball branded cap of your choice and a mahoosive umbrella.

Or....just wear your normal clothes for whatever weather is forecast. You're going to WATCH golf, not tee off with Tiger smile

My normal clothes are a suit with Chelsea boots!

What every day???

Still a better option than my first suggestion mind wink

Weather looks ok for the weekend, dry and reasonably warm, so you shouldn't need head to toe waterproofs.

Not sure I agree with the shirt tucked in and no denim response, but that's just a differing age/fashion sense rather than a recognised dress code.

Silly trainers, white 'sports' socks, chinos, crap polo shirt that will disintegrate in the first wash, cheap too-tight jumper, a 'waterproof' jacket with a label (it's on the outside, where people can see, of course) that is far from waterproof, a £3 golfing umbrella from Soccer Sports (or something given to you free on a 'corporate' day out from Head Office because you sold more Freezers than everyone else in Basildon last month), and a cap, a really stupid cap.

Then shout 'get in the hole' every time someone hits a ball.

That should do it.

This. Sports casual, with stay-crease action slacks. Go wild with the socks. Get a Volvo with the private plate for the car park.

I will echo the no denim comment, every golf club I have been to has specifically stated no denim in the clubhouse or course.

So choose jeans or cords with Chelsea boots (brown of course).

Colour being more important than either brand or cut. My rule for the ry, is to dress like a peat bog.

With Chelsea boots probably, as mentioned earlier. Take a Pringle cardigan, just in case it gets chilly.

I like the cords and boots suggestion. I'm onto that.

My wardrobe lacks in the department of sports casual, I've lots of sports specific gear, suits by the dozen and jeans with T Shirts but no correct jacket either, I guess a sort of Helly Hansen type would be right. I have a North Face but that's a Puffa and makes me look like the security.

Whatever you like and will be most comfortable walking / standing in!

I don't know why but I can't stand the people that turn up to watch golf in their golf playing attire, as if to confirm that they do indeed play and are not merely spectators.

It's pretty irrational / hypocritical on my part because I absolutely can't stand the thought of golf being played in anything but trousers and a collared shirt and love the traditions and etiquette of the game.

It makes me cringe like the wearing of a Ferrari or BMW "M" cap, just in case someone didn't see you arrive in it.
