The VW system uses a mask that swivels across the Xenon light unit, to block out the light to a car ahead.

It's a mechanical system that does a similar job.

I would worry about owning a 5 year old one, but you could say that about many features of modern cars.

Right, it is the small details that make the difference.

I have them on my (non RS) too.

My GF says they are a stealthy ploy by Audi to get us to use indicators.

Don't know, mine will be Facelift so free. BM you still need to fork out £1400. but then HUD is free on the BM and £1400 on the Audi. I did like HUD on my M5 bit of a gimmick and not worth £1400
Personal choice really. I love the HUD in the M5 as I did in the E60 variant also. Would I pay £1400 for it? possibly not & definitely not for Audi's system. Saying that I certainly wouldn't pay £1400 for LED's on any car when the adaptive system is almost as good & to be honest I'm very rarely out driving on poorly lit roads in the dark, so I rarely use the funky system in my car.

So there are some good discounts available on these is this because the c7 is coming to the end of its life cycle?. Are we to hear about a new model next year perhaps?

The C7 RS6 is only 30 months old since its press release in May 2013.

There has been no mention of a C8 model of the A6 yet, no concept drawings, no rumours, nothing. The RS6 version is then released about 2-3yrs later during the model life cycle. Just look how long it took to release the RS3, 2nd half of 2015, the A3 was released mid 2012. The new TT has been with us over a year now, nothing at all on the RS.

Taking all that into account, the RS6 C8 is going to be a 2018+ release. Audi will be concentrating their efforts on the RS4/5 first and then RS6/7.

2017/18 at least according to my dealer (but what do they know?). And let's hope it's not strangled in some way. I can't help thinking the days of twin turbo 560ps V8s are numbered. Add in huge cuts in Audi product development budget and ...

It's the mmi touchpad .
You use it when the numbers as shown to change radio presets , or when it's blank you can write on it to input info , like postcode, road name into sat nav, or write numbers to dial on the phone or search for contacts.
It works well.

I'm assuming official Audi winter tyre set would come with them but local dealer seems to be struggling to confirm this.

Thanks for the offer of the parts code, will see how the official tyres go first - it's actually for our 4M Q7.

Cheers,

Phil
My spare set came with them, and centre caps. Ridiculous not to.
To close this one, and for those looking to do similar, I took delivery of the winter tyres from the local Audi dealer yesterday and fitted today - can confirm no TPMS issues, thanks for the input.

Back to RS6's, good to see so much interest as they are fantastic cars - Bedford Audi always seem to have one sitting in the showroom but different ones every time I visit, apparently the demand is pretty constant.

Phil does the winter tyre package mean fitting 20" wheels as well, so if on 21", wheels and tyres will be needed.

It's a full set of 20" alloys, tyres, centre caps, wheel bags and presumably the TPMS sensors - all fully balanced and just swap over.

Was a good chance to give the 21" wheels a thorough clean before storing for the winter.

Another advantage is that I can get any kerbed wheels properly refurbed this way without having the car off the road - though so far these have been pretty resilient to the magnetic roadsides...

God there's some money out there!!

People ordering £84k cars like sweets in a candy shop.......shows the huge gulf in people's earnings in the Uk

You can see why these cars gets vandalised if left out in a London Street as all it does is breed resentment amongst the poor.

Nice cars though!

Just been told that I have a week 1 2016 build date. So presume that's 1st week of Jan with getting my hands on it and flooring it about a month later?

I don't think anyone is flippant about buying a car of that value on Pistonheads. Certainly not a sweet shop purchase.

We are all enthusiasts and enjoy the cars, most will have worked very hard and saved in order to afford such a car. When I was a young lad I saw a guy interviewed on the tv who had a Ferrari who lived in a normal house. How did you afford that they asked - he said he did not drink, smoke or go on holidays for x years or spend it on a big house and other things. That stuck with me and so worked towards the same sort of thing. At uni I walked to uni each day for 4 years because I worked out that the money I save on bus fares after 4 years would be enough to buy a return flight to Hong Kong. so I walked and I flew to HK. The same with cars - you work out how to get where you want to get to and try and do that.

So hopefully nice cars should not breed resentment - its how that person looks on life determines a resentment or ambition.

Be assured spending £86k list which is £73k in reality after discount is not a light decision and im sure all on here will have built up the cars to get to that sort of level. im not putting in too much each time. If it goes wrong I can sell the car and get a fair chunk back if I have to.

Not everyone who 'buys' expensive cars, can actually afford them http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cf...

interesting case but OT. BMW finance advance a sum to buy an x race car from a BMW dealer for 150k. A very special car it would appear. When the buyer defaults less than 12 months later, BMW finance choose to flog it via an auction for 50k. I can see why the buyer is a bit annoyed
