Had a ride in my mates 996.1 C2 this morning
Discussion
Bought mine in the spring, had it PPI'd, came back all good with only a few minor issues associated with an 18 year old car. Manual, M030 suspension and LSD, changed the oils and had a low temp thermostat fitted when the anti freeze was changed so all set for a while hopefully. M030 is a bit harsh through but I'll live with it.

Had my '98 3.4 C2 manual since May & love it.
MO30 fully refreshed 18 months/5000 miles ago, LSD, hardback seats, cable throttle, no stabilty control system.
Had geometry set up to a 'fast road' setting with a touch of negative camber at the front & it drives superbly, Very alive.
Looks nice. Get the lower temp thermostat fitted and keep the rads at the front clean. I take the bumper off every now and again and clean them with the hose pipe.MO30 fully refreshed 18 months/5000 miles ago, LSD, hardback seats, cable throttle, no stabilty control system.

Appleton - Nice looking car, almost identical to mine. Where did you have your fast road setup done, do you remember what settings you used?
Had mine done at Unit 11 in Warrington. They used to look after my 964 & know their way around 911s.Will try & dig out the settings used, but was a touch more aggressive at the rear but mainly about reducing understeer by making the front end 'pointier' with 1 degree of negative camber on each side.
Doesn't tramline really but is sharper to turn in & I love the feel through the wheel!

Glad to hear you're still enjoying it Nick. You made a good buy with that one. Will try & dig out the settings used, but was a touch more aggressive at the rear but mainly about reducing understeer by making the front end 'pointier' with 1 degree of negative camber on each side.

Thanks cmoose . Had a quick shuftie at an early 996 yesterday at a local indy, what struck me the most was that at seventeen years old it really didn't look its age. The simple lines and the way it sat 'just right' have cemented my plans to crack on and make it happen. Sat in it for a few minutes and felt the car instantly shrink around me... I could add several more cliches but suffice to say I'm smitten!anonymous said:

When I went for a test drive in a 981 Cayman down at OPC Towcester back in June I parked my bum in a 991 for a minute or two to see what it was like, I actually prefer the relative cosiness of the 996!(A big sweeping 'thankyou' to all the Pork gurus on here by the way, I've picked up a fair bit about 911s in recent weeks which has settled nicely in the old grey matter... )
