Hey Guys,

Could any UK chaps kindly share with me their delivery timings of cars you ordered.

I have been working off this schedule and as of today my car is at 9000 - Departed Plant. Just trying to get a steer on when my car will be arriving. I have plugged in some relevant dates too which may help if anyone wants some idea about how quickly or not so quickly things are happening.

I'm kind of getting a bit impatient now.

But more importantly I am off to South America on the 5th December so, sort of hoping will arrive before I fly out so I can bring it home and not be sitting at a dealership until I return on the 23rd December.

Paid deposit over the phone - 30th October
Paid another deposit at the dealership and signed order form - 31st October

1100 Scheduled
1200 Scheduled for Production
5000 Confirmed for Production
5050 Chassis Number Allocated - 31st October
5055 Confirmed by Production Control - 2nd November

5100 Bodyshop Start
5190 Bodyshop Complete - 10th November
5200 Paintshop Start
5270 Paintshop Complete
5300 Pre-Assembly Start
5400 Assembly Start
5500 Assembly Complete - 12th November

6000 Transfer to Distribution - 16th November
8200 Released to Carrier
9000 Departed Plant
9615/35/45 In Storage
9610/20/30/40/50/60 In Transit
9800 Arrived Dealer

Difficult to say, left the plant means outside for some cars not even off to the Port, my M5 sat outside for 4 weeks!!!!, not going any F**king where.
On the other hand you could see it in two weeks, even UK dealers do not really know were the cars are at any given time.

Hi, i have two cars on order, the update today is one car is at port awaiting its boat. dealer advised its likley to be at the UK dealer some time next week.
the other car is in transit to port, i suggested this might mean the week after next for that delivery, the dealer said "potentially but less predictable than the first car".

apparently once its in port the delivery to dealer is more predictable.

this may be factual or just my dealer trying to get me off the phone from the 15th call to ask where my car is in the last 2 weeks!!

happy waiting - its a bh isnt it ha ha

Thanks for your reply !

4 weeks waiting outside ? YIkes !! The UK dealers are a bit lost I agree. I tend to get all my info directly from BMW UK themselves

Haha ! Yes I was calling them all the time too ! But now just harass BMW UK instead. Obviously I know my chassis and order number off by heart smile

OK so hoping it will be in port soon and then get a better idea about delivery timings.

When do they raise a chassis number?

As an idea of my time scales for a similar car :

16/9 Car Ordered
18/9 Build confirmed and locked
27/9 Build complete
10/10 Arrived in UK
11/10 (Friday) Delivered to dealer
16/10 Car collected (I was away Monday and Tuesday)

However, I think there is a lot of pot luck involved, it just depends when your car is built, when the train to the required port leaves Dingolfing and when the ship leaves port.

I am not sure if its normal, or not, but as I was essentially grabbing a car that was going to be built but was allowed to spec it as I wanted minus any individual bits and pieces hence I could get it pretty soon.

I therefore had my chassis number pretty much a couple of days after I paid my deposit and got my order form.

Thanks for your timing break down !

It actually is matching my own one pretty well and I therefore quite hopeful to get it at the start of week 49 (Nov 30th to 6th December) If it does come on the 5th/6th I won't be seeing it until the 23rd as I am abroad frown

So hoping for 30th to 4th .....wishing more like

haha ! I'll add you the long list forming already smile

I have a bit of a plan to pick it up and then when back from being abroad drive it into Europe and down to Spain (to avoid any snow in other parts of Europe) and actually do the running in service in Barcelona. I have spoken to a dealer over there who said sure no problem.

I just have to make sure I actually run it in properly on the way down rather than stick on cruise on a motorway through France etc etc

A key benefit is the additional power sockets - so I would tick the box although I don't smoke either.

Do you get extra sockets? Mine does not have the smokers package and has a socket in the ash tray area and a socket in the arm rest. What I don't have is the lighter element in the ash tray, but I think that's it.
