I was badly injured in a botched robbery attempt in the carpark of my business on Friday 13th. Should I make an EL personal injury claim?

If you are an employee, then certainly.

Plus write to the Fortean Times about the Friday the 13th bit.

Surely if it's an incident involving vehicles, it'll be easier to sue the driver of the vehicle which hit you. Even if it was a stolen vehicle, the insurer on cover for the car would still payout on their third party liabilities.

It's a bit strange how your posts are so scant on information and written in a matter of fact style given the severity of the incident.

Car wasn't stolen but wasn't insured. Don't think MIB pay claims if there's a CICA claim (which is almost certain to happen and be paid. £110k for 2 legs).

As to style, how should I put it? (If it's ok could I avoid going down that road please).

Does your employer (you) have employers insurance, and if so in what way to you consider you to have been negligent in relation to the incident?

You want to claim twice for the same injury?

Yes there is employer's insurance but the company hasn't been negligent. If it has to have been negligent then I guess there isn't a claim to make.

Are you saying that the CI claim/payout voids any other claim on any other policy? That's kind of what I'm trying to find out.

OP, you have (apparently) suffered life changing injuries and look to pursue damages into 6 figures. Stop messing around on a free Internet forum and go and see a solicitor who specialises in PI, who will owe you a duty of care, without any further delay!

Sometimes there's some advice and experience on here. And sometimes lying on your back at 3am it passes an hour between naps. The suits will be queuing up soon enough. What's the harm, really?

Isn't there a Romanian "PH" which may be better able to assist you rather than asking in the largely UK biased real PH ?

Where in the UK, er I mean Rumania did this happen? Rather than asking you for details after the trauma I would like to read about it in the news or local newspaper.

If this were a broken leg, then fine. But your injuries are severe. Seek proper legal help.

I hope you can work this so you at least get something. Bloody hell frown

Perhaps you could post a link to reports of this incident?
Surely the local papers will have something along the lines of 'Local Businessman loses both legs in robbery attempt'.

Indeed that is what i would like to read about, must have been terrible to get legless on a Friday night, and really bad timing as just the day before he was increasing his basic knowledge of business finance and tax, and i do mean basic http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Company director does cover a wide spectrum of business activities I guess.

The CICA will only get involved if there is no insurer and as the incident involved a vehicle, insurers should be involved.

The CICA would also look if your conduct made any difference (ie if you chased the assailants)

First sorry to hear about that.
