The PS3 I've got has been brilliant and used as a media centre, music player, blue ray and games console. It has now been moved out of the lounge and into a separate room. So if a good deal comes up on the PS4 I may get one for the lounge.

People are making a bigger deal of this new chassis than they need to, it's a small change to the manufacturing process and parts used, not to improve the product, but to make it cheaper to manufacture. It's lighter as a result of these changes to make things cheaper, and it also becomes cheaper to ship, which adds up when shipping in large volumes.

Saying that, I'd be wanting the new one if I was buying now.

On the subject of PS4's, is it true that you cannot play PS3 games on a PS4? If so that is ridiculous !
why?

I can't use the reins or stirrups from my horse on my car.

Haha, Really!

I would have thought that the newer version of a console would be able to play games from the same manufacturer, IMO not a stupid question and certainly not a stupid as your remark.

But I did get a sensible reply from Digitise, thanks

Shopto have the latest chassis if you want to buy through them.

Dropped them a note when buying mine two months ago and they no longer supply the 'older' version. As well as it being quieter it is also marginally quicker and uses less energy I believe.

There are no performance differences between the two, unless the new drives are a higher spec than the older ones.
