You do sound childlike, your ridiculous "peasant" response was uncalled for and out of line with whatever ridiculous attempts you are making to give the impression of being some sort of country gent.

I'm only letting you know as you seem to be completely un self-aware.

Not trying to be a country gent. I do live in a cottage in a village, but it is very small and worth less than most peoples houses on here I would think (seeing as everyone else on here is a powerfully built company director with yachts, astons and millions in offshore bank accounts) my RR is 15 years old my guns between them are worth less than a replacement top lever for a Boss and co and my dog is overweight and whilst will sit quietly on the peg wouldn't pick up if the bird landed on her. So no I am not pertaining to be anything I just merely stated in my original post items I have that may relate to the OP's question. Maybe you should start on some of the true Walter Mitty's on here or are you yourselves just picking to cover your own inadequate lives. As I stated before I do find it strange that a lot of the mockers do not state their occupation in their profiles. Work in poundland do you?

The turn down collar is I admit the more favoured way with a black tie now, but is another sloppy american import. Whilst I appreciate the wing collar is supposedly now the preserve of white tie, it is still in my eye not incorrect to wear a black tie with a wing collar, new money American style or old money English style. I think the choice should come down to the individual.
But how does one disguise the elastic on one's pre-tied bow tie when worn with a wing collar?

PS Your writing style and spelling has changed suddenly! wink
You are a very presumptuous little chap aren't you. Now run along to mummy, she is waiting to tuck you up in bed you little peasant.
A somewhat excessive response? confused
No it was a response I felt was justified. It has shut him up has it not? That or he has gone to bed, so he's up in time for school tomorrow.
Yes, you definitely showed an anonymous man on the Internet who the Alpha Male on this forum is didn't you, well done you! thumbup

We went through this as an amusing diversion recently in a political thread.

Black tie became standard evening wear in the inter-war years, when turn-down collars were becoming the norm. Wearing a wing collar with black tie is not "old money English style". It is TOWIE style.

If you use the cotton buds, you shouldn't have the earwax build-up!

Incorrect, cotton buds are actually one of the worst things you can use to decrease ear wax build up.

Oh OK I will bow to your vastly superior knowledge. I know when I have been beaten and will let the better man win.

Oh yes must not forget this correct one.....................

That last pic disproves the old adage that you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter. Even in glitter it's still clearly a turd.

You are a bit fighty for a participant in a not at all serious thread. Relax a little bit and you might not feel bullied.

Actually, I made no comment on what Lord Marmitemania of Highhorse wanted to wear, I merely pointed out that the reason the majority of people only wear a wing collar with white tie is that the rear of a bow tie is visible, therefore if one was unable to tie a bowtie, then the elastic of a pre-tied jobbie would show!

Not sure that I would describe that as bullying or laying foundations for a spat (which incidentally should only be worn when in period costume, as part of military uniform and by heavy horses) rolleyes

Had one for lunch yesterday, courtesy of a neighbour - quite a delight, as I didn't even know they made a white with pinot blanc. Was trying to track down a case as I was writing biggrin

Believe whatever makes you feel like the bigger man, happily I have enough in my life that I know little and care less what internet people think of me. Maybe you should try that, you would probably be less prone to going off the deep end at the innocent comments of others.

a middle aged man should surely be polite, gracious, well-mannered, considerate... seeing very little of that from some of the contributors! Maybe you should go hang with some emo teens under a bridge somewhere...

Sorry if I have come across as a tt. Looking back maybe I did over react. I think I took the disguising of the elastic on the bow tie comment as a dig at me suggesting that I would only wear a pre tied bow tie, sorry if I have caused offence to anyone in particular Dand E Lion, things can build up and I have a few things on my plate at the moment, and I think I misjudged the nature of the replies, that does not excuse my insolent replies.

Thank you. I just need to straighten up a few things in my life and hopefully get back on track. Thanks for your understanding.
