Maybe, but their engines will all be in better condition than the 98* cars hehe

I'm not treating this thread as seriously as you seem to be... but in any case my small amounts of research have made me (if ever) recommend a 2.7 over any of the other 98* engines.

But I still think the 'best' cars are from the era when the engineers were in charge. Any 924 944 and (I'm stretching to the) 968 that are costing 12k today are ones in good condition. The decent 952s for sale now seem to be advertised for nearer to 20k.

I wish people would stop using the word 'investment' as any upside is usually lost by any big expenditure. They do offer great value for money and should be depreciation proof, but running and maintenance costs can be expensive, it's a Porsche after all.
Couldn't agree more. These aren't going to treble in price anytime soon.

Odd comment about Caymans and Boxster. They are both fine cars.

Are they any slower than a Boxster then? They deliver a big slug of torque...what car are you driving at the moment?

The 944/968 four pot is a sweet engine, at least above about 3500rpm. The lanchester shafts make a big difference smoothing out the inherent inbalance of a four and if you squint, it sounds like a straight six!

I think its a lovely engine.

It is at the upper end of the squinting spectrum. biggrin

I am talking about fairly high revs, they do scream quite well.

This is where I would put my cash. Not everybodies favourite but 171mph and timeless shape.

Tell us again.

Nah, joking aside I've always liked the 928. Still a head turner many years later.
