Hi,

Am I right in thinking at normal unmodified 996 TT's run at a max of 0.8 bar? Mine is running at a max of 0.9 bar and I wondered if that was unusual or maybe I am just driving it too hard?

I would have thought if it was modified by the former owner it would be put up more to 1.1 bar and not by just 0.1 so I just wanted to put it out there and see what experience any other 996 TT owners have with their cars?

Cheers

My previous tt was std and only hit 0.8bar when the rev limiter was hit and boy did i try. My current tt is the x50 and that will only hit 1bar on the rev limiter, normal max boost is 0.9bar regardless of how hard it is driven. Even a full day at bedford only saw 0.9bar.

cheers for your posts, so do you think it may have been taken to 450 bhp? it hits 0.9 bar with no problems without redlining it but that seems to be the max as I thrashed the hell out of it (of course on a private road ;-) and it wouldn't go over it.

rods has a point, my old Subaru STi used to overboost in the very cold weather, and its been very cold.
If 0.9 is the very max you can get out of it then it would suggest overboost of standard car & perhaps not underboost of a modified car ?
Only real way to know is to interrogate the ECU which requires a specialist.....that or we can run the cars side by side to see if yours is quicker than mine....;-)

turboguru,
have a look on the id label on the underside of the bonnet, it will list X50 if it was a factory option.

I can it a fair bit but have only ever seen .7 on mine once or twice, usual max' is .6 - mine was rolling roaded at G-Force and showed the full 420 bhp so can only suppose that .6 is the factory amount.
