Wheels: Sp12 v's Spider weights
Discussion
Bit of useless info for everyone if they are considering changing wheels,
I have a set of SP12 with new avon ZZR track tyres on and they weigh:
Front (225.40.18) 22Kg, Rear (265.35.18)24kg
compared to Spiders with new P Zero tyres:
Front (235.40.18) 24kg, Rear (255.35.18) 26kg.
So an 8kg saving on weight. I think as this weight saving is on the rotational masses someone on here will come along and explain that its worth more than the actual 8kg dead weight reduction.

I went from spiders to Atec ultralites with a weight saving of 3 kg per wheel, I don't know the science behind it but the difference in ride and steering was unbelievable, my cerb was always good when it came to the handling but with the Atecs fitted I have a lot more confidence in the car.
I gave up on the spiders after I buckled 3 sets and I was fed up of getting vibrations at certain motorway speeds

Yep, without getting bogged down in the physics, but unsprung weight loss is more effective than sprung.
I saved about 2-3kg a wheel with a change from RL-7's and really noticed the difference also. Handling/ride/composure and confidence in the car generally. Now I've had it 4 wheel aligned also it is like a different car!

Gray would you share the sizes and offset you run on the Ultralites. I'm getting fed up with bent spiders but I really don't like the look of SP12's. I wasted ages over xmas looking for alloy options in the right sizes and offsets and got nowhere. My first choice was Compomotive but they don't currently make the right offset (can't remember if it was front or rear)I gave up on the spiders after I buckled 3 sets and I was fed up of getting vibrations at certain motorway speeds

Rear 9J et 38 - 255/35/18
Front 8J et 35 - 225/35/18
No rubbing front or rear
Where did you get these? According to http://www.ultralitewheels.com/acatalog/18-INCH-UL... they only do the 18x9 rear in a 35 offset, I know its only a few mm but I wonder if these would rub as its putting the wheel closer to the arch lip (I think?)Front 8J et 35 - 225/35/18
No rubbing front or rear
Also just noticed only the UL52 comes in these sizes, 6 spoke instead of the 7 spoke wheels you have.

http://www.ultralitewheels.com/atec.htm
the wheel sizes are..
Fronts 18x8 J ..ET 35
Rears 18x9 J ..ET 38
The Front tyre size is 225/40/18 and the Rears 255/40/18
^^^^^. This is what I've pulled off my Facebook page ... But the web site doesn't work any more.
The sizes are correct but there is very little choice with the internet seller you have found compared to what ultralite actually produce.
I know when I bought mine the only correct off set with 7 spokes was only available in bronze , maybe a phone call to the internet seller will be of help instead of trying to find them on the web page
