Gents,

Not normally one for PPF, but have just agreed a deal on a new car with special paint I'd like to protect. Can someone recommend a company in the Silverstone area?

Topaz Detailing will go directly to your OPC. The company did a fabulous job on my new RS. Detailed and highly polished first then the whole car covered in Sutek 2 self healing film. Give them a call ask for Darren tell RobGT3 sent you.

Awesome...I'll give them a call.

Can I ask what kind of cost? Email me on my profile if you prefer.

I was thinking just front end, sills and arches initially.

Newvcar with special paint near Silverstone. Mint Gren 991 GTS per chance from OPC Silverstone? I only ask as I saw it when I bought my car from them a month ago.

A nice one to add to the collection sir?

I can recommend Dovehouse Motor Company in Rushden (Brendon) - will probably get him to do gtechniq the Spyder when it lands. He also does PPF.

Thanks Andrew.

It'll go really well with the Spyder. I wasn't actually looking for a GTS!

I was thinking about ordering a 991.2 Targa S for later in the year. OPC Cardiff kindly let me take a 991.2 Cab S out for a spin so I could get a feel for the new motor. It was a great car but I really wasn't sure about the turbo lump which made me think about the outgoing GTS. It was then I noticed this car on the Porsche used car locator. I was attracted by the Mint Green and won over by the spec.

Had a sleepless weekend thinking about it and sealed the deal lunchtime. There's nothing I'd change about the car. Absolutely perfect as far as I'm concerned. Silverstone did a great job in specifying it. Pre-registered in December by Silverstone and with just 22 delivery miles.

As I mentioned, PPF isn't something I've thought necessary before, but it's such a cool colour I'm inclined to protect it. I need to decide whether to get it sorted before collection or getting it done when I get "minty" home.

Just a little taster...

Silverstone is my local OPC and I've seen that car in there a few times and it looks stunning. Congratulations, you've got a brilliantly spec'd awesome car there.

That is quite a garage going on - GT4, Spyder & now 991GTS. If you live near Silverstone and want a hand driving them all give me a shout! :-D

I'm nowhere near Silverstone. My local OPC is Cardiff. But I think that Mint Green car is worth travelling for. I'm over the moon to have managed to buy it.

Thought I'd lost it on Saturday as there was another potential customer viewing. Deep sigh of relief now!

I've seen it in the flesh and you won't be disappointed. I did try persuading my wife that we should buy it before I got the GT4 but she is more conservative and wouldn't go for the colour. Last of the n/a 911's in a stunning spec and colour - sure to be a classic.

If you're looking for a good detailer, then Justin at exclusive car care does a great job is competitive with OCD levels of detail and can do PPF. He's in Wiltshire so not too far away from you.

It's a Porsche (I.e. not always the best paint from the factory) and it's been sat in the showroom so will benefit from some machine polishing before the PPF. If it needs a good detail it could be done more locally with someone you know and trust at your convenience.

When are you planning to collect it BTW ?

Was hoping to collect this week but it may be early next. I'd ideally prefer it looked at locally but on the other hand I then risk chips on the drive home.

I'm very jealous that you live close to Silverstone. What a fantastic facility.

Haha. Congratulations!

It's a great car. I can't remember the story exactly but the coloured inserts in the seats were done by the OPC rather than at the factory. I think they felt with such a strong colour it needed something inside, I think it was a good choice.

Unfortunately I've never gelled with sales at Silverstone, but the service guys are great. Mohamed as they are very local which is better than going to Swindon and back all the time.

Suns out tomorrow and the missus & I have our Macan GTS experience day at the Silverstone PEC so I'm really looking forward to that. Might drop in on the way home and have a peak at it for you and see what else they have around.

Thanks smile

I don't think you could option them with the paint to sample - either that or it would have further delayed delivery. I'm glad they did it.

I saw it before Xmas when it first arrived and the seat inserts were black. Think green lifts the interior.

That was me! In the end, even though I loved it, I thought that the colour was just a bit too "look at me" for an everyday car. Of course, as soon as you bought it I changed my mind banghead

If you do change your mind about it...

In any event, another vote for Topaz. I've known them for years - they are consistently superb.

It's definitely not a colour for everyone so I can understand your uncertainty.

For me it was a no-brainer biggrin

Congratulations. Are we to read into this that the GT4 is the scalp for this particular purchase?
