Can I ask a stupid question or two

I want to paint my brake calipers and have seen a previous thread by kojak69 which shows them as red painted with hammerite.

Do you have to take the calipers off to paint them then ? Or can you do it on the disk so to speak ?

How do you keep the TVR bit white and the AP writing thing, I was thinking of blue calipers and then gold lettering as it would match the car.

Any suggestions gratefully received -

You can buy paint caliper kits which include cleaner and hardener(£20 in all colours). Hamerite may suffer with the heatand peel.

Unless you have a warm garage I would wait until the weather warms up. I have just done mine and ended up heating the calipers with a hair dryer to start the curing process. Look good now though.

So the Cerb doesn't come with stainless hoses as standard?

Where did the hoses come from, and at what cost?

I assumed they came as standard. I used to have Goodridge hoses on my Subaru (I bought them -- they weren't standard). I guess I'll get them upgraded at the next service then -- they're cheap enough.

If anyone needs Goodridge Stainless steel hoses for their Cerb, or any other car, drop me a line, The Co. I work for are Hose Specialists and Goodridge distributors (over 15 years) and can supply different coloured outer sleeving too. also we can supply PTFE and Stainless Braided Oil pipes. etc.
Cheers,
Cooky

Hi Mike

I kept my calipers on, but jacked the car up so as to be able to get my 'head in'. The lettering was painted on afterwards. Yes, you need a steady hand.

I painted my calipers in situ, but it is easy
if youve got spiders. ive got a light blue metalic
car. the wheels are silver spiders with gold centres.
painted the calipers gold, highlighted the writing
in black. used ordinary metal paint and its stayed
on for 18 months so far. looks smart.
