997 GT3 Replica
Discussion
Greetings, Porsche aficionados. Usually I cannot stand the idea of a replica car, but I've been toying with the idea of getting a 997, and I think I'd only really go for one if it's got the Aero kit on it. Ideally I'd like factory fit but I've seen a GT3 replica which I think looks fantastic:

I'd need to sell my current car to fund this so I almost certainly I won't be buying this particular one, but I'm curious what you guys think of this?
I guess 400BHP is very optimistic? Or can these cars make that power with bolt on mods?

Interesting, anything in particular that stands out?
Ideally I'd like a 997 with factory fit aero but there are a few replicas floating around but I suspect a lot of them have been in accidents and repaired.
Thanks
Most of the points covered: lime green (hybrid) callipers, the wing looks to be from a GT2 (if it's genuine that is), front bumper woes, wheels are 997 items but not GT3 wheels, paddle steering wheel on a manual, ride height, etc.Ideally I'd like a 997 with factory fit aero but there are a few replicas floating around but I suspect a lot of them have been in accidents and repaired.
Thanks
I've just done a search on the Classifieds on here and there are a few 997s with aerokit for sale. Select Porsche, then 997 and type aerokit in the Keywords field.

Gen II with a Powerkit (Option X51) makes 408 bhp. This is a Gen I though. Powerkit adds 30hp and is an expensive option (standard on GTS) at IIRC circa £10k. Thus it's a rare option on a standard Carrera S. Thanks for the replies guys. As mentioned I usually wouldnt even look at a rep and I think the replies here have reaffirmed that.
I think a factory aero kit is the way to go, I certainly wasn't comparing it to a GT3 mechanically but it has some of the aesthetics or at least an attempt at them!

don't think the car looks so terrible, expected much worse after reading the comments - at first glance anyway.
obviously the steerling wheel is very weird and the badging a bit naff. But generally not so bad (am ignoring any type of fit and finish issues). Who cares about brake caliper colour ...
it is true though that Porsche buyers in Europe (esp in the UK) seem to want everything original (track cars/heavily tracked cars are an exception) and ecven if this one is straight/accident free, it might be challenging to sell on (certainly more challenging than a Porsche aerokit car)
I would not buy it, but can see how it appeals, esp. if the parts are lightweight (lighter than the OEM parts)

I didn't know this. So do all 997 Carrera GTS have the powerkit and what about the 991, Cayman and Boxster 981?Vergis said:
Typical British forum.
Guy spends loads and makes his car look awesome and most people are either jealous or want to criticise.
The thing I love about Pistonheads is everyone here speaks their mind. Guy spends loads and makes his car look awesome and most people are either jealous or want to criticise.
Some may find posts distasteful or rude or just plain trollish but I would MUCH rather have this than a sycophantic forum where everyone says your car is wonderful while silently dry-heaving!
