Old Gits 2017 – Provence, France – 3/June/17 to 11/June/17
Discussion
Following the hugely successful 2016 trip to Northern Spain this year, planning for the 2017 Old Gits trip has already started. Next year we’re off to Provence in the South East of France. The trip will run from Saturday 3rd June to Sunday 11th June and the Hotel IBIS in Gap will be the destination for the week.
The discussions of how we each get there/back will be done nearer the time but the rough outline schedule is to cross the channel on Friday or Saturday and spend 2 or three days (depending on chosen route) getting to Gap. We’ll then spend the week based in Gap, exploring the local roads before heading back on the Friday or Saturday to cross the channel back into Blighty on Sunday afternoon.
As with all Old Gits trips the detailed plan for the trip is to … er … have no plan! Other than the booking of the hotel(s) and agreed channel crossings, how you get there/back , how long you take, who you travel with and what you do once there is entirely up to you. It’s your holiday (and mine too!) so you can do what you want, when you want and at the pace you want, in the knowledge that you’re in a location where a large number of other people share the same interest and speak the same language as you.
I’ve managed to negotiate with the Hotel IBIS and single rooms will cost €63 per night, B&B, which includes access to their secure garage for your bike. So far we have 23 people "signed up" to the trip. If you’d like to be included then drop me a message, either via here or via the Old Gits web site.
I see no reason why you can't post things ahead to the hotel. I'm happy to let them know it's coming.
There is also a strong possibly that some of the Old Gits will use a car and trailer to get to Gap so there may also be an alternative luggage transport option there for little more than the cost of a beer.

You'd be very welcome to join us. I'm just now putting together the options for getting there and back.
We've currently got 2 cars towning flat bed trailers, each with 4 bikes on them, but unfortunately, they're both full. If you happen to have a decent tow car you'd be willing to offer then it's probable we'd be able to fill another trailer full if that would make life a little easier.
ETA - We're now up to 26 people booked and the IBIS in Gap has a maximum of 30 rooms available so spaces may well run out.

Counting the days now - not long to go!
Want to come too?
We've had one of our number drop out due to work commitments. That means we have a place available if anyone is interested in joining us. PM me if you're interested and I'll run through what's happening and, I hope, answer any questions you may have.

The first group leave today and are making their way to Gap via France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
The next group catch the tunnel tomorrow with the final group crossing the channel early on Saturday morning. We're all meeting up for a meal at a "quiet table for 27" on Sunday evening.
The weather forecast for the area next week looks good so we expect to have great fun riding what many of the group think are some of the best roads in Europe.
