Presume it's a swiveling kitchen type tap? If so I'm not sure 10 years is unreasonable. Franke are known as a good make, but you could look at Grohe.

I'd also look at Bristan at that kind of price point.

Its probably the hardness of the water in your area, i would recommend replacement, bristan taps are brilliant and last years!

Will be water hardness as said, but don't invest in softener. Another vote for Bristan, I fit them all the time when customer budget permits.

Happened to ours a couple of years ago. A couple of turns of black insulating tape soon fixed it

I've seen copper pipe spring pinhole leaks in a high nitrate area; it's a chemical reaction. Can't believe a tap stem would be so thin though.
