Surveyor and Removals recommendations - SE London/NW Kent

I asked about a surveyor before and the only suggestion never got back to me, and due to our move taking longer than anticipated I need to ask again: Does anyone have any recommendations for a surveyor and a removal company?

We should hopefully be moving in the new year to a larger house in the same village (near jct 3 M25) so it's not exactly a long distance move (literally about 300ft!). House we are buying was built around 1850, so after a full structural survey.

Any advice gratefully received.

I am a chartered building surveyor but don't do residential surveys. Feel free to pm to ask any questions you may have though. If you intend to do any works to the house (extensions, loft conversions, pulling walls down etc, let the surveyor know so that he can specifically advise you if there are any issues behind you doing the proposed works.

If you want him to advise on something in particular then ask him, otherwise he may not include it in his report. Unless it is a new house he wont comment in detail on the services and definitely wont get a drainage survey done unless you ask.

Don't forget about outhouses, garages, sheds, fences etc.

It's taken a long time to get to this stage but just wanted to say thanks again for this recommendation - Alec has recently completed our survey and I'm pleased with the service and the report provided. I've nothing to compare with (never had a survey done before) but it seems very thorough.

I'm not quite so happy with some of the things he found, but that's not his fault!

Would happily recommend Alec to others in the same position.
