Hi all, doing a big extension and re-furb, most of roof will be insulated with 155mm of celotex, walls with 100mm. No system right now and have been using electric panel heaters so far this winter and am surprised at how brilliant they are! Seriously, turn it on for 10 mins and the room is toasty!! So got me wondering about electric heating and the new storage heaters etc., anyone have any experience of this type of thing?

Also read about air to air heating (not air source heat pumps), like air con but in reverse - some good reports on this too..

I thought an ASHP was exactly that?

If you have gas - use it. 'leccy is expensive.

Heating with electricity is 100% efficient, then it depends on your unit cost verses oil and gas prices.

Electric heating generally works out about 3 times more expensive per kwh than gas on normal type tariffs. Quite a lot of info out there about various fuel costs per kwh etc
