Towbar and reversing sensors.

Hi all
I have recently bought a jaguar S type which has reversing sensors on it.
Now I appreciate the sensors will see the caravan when you select reverse but will they see the Towbar when not towing?

Some tow bar electrics will disable this automatically.

I know relays are available that will disable the sensors when towing,but do the sensors see the towbar when not towing? Will it make the sensors redundant?

I have a detachable tow bar on my snotter.

Sensors work fine and the canbus detects the connection of a trailer (and it's lights) switching the sensors off.

Again, sensors work fine with just the towbar fitted.
