Critique my kitchen
Discussion
Knowing that there is a wealth of knowledge and good ideas out there, I'd be grateful for any thoughts as to our proposed new kitchen layout. My wife and I have come up with a design that we think works pretty well but would be grateful for any other ideas or suggestions.
We are constrained by some aspects (hot & cold water, waste pipe locations, window and door locations) but pretty much anything else might be possible. Electrics will be moved/replaced/sorted as part of the build/install but no further structural works will be carried out. We don't want an island or anything in the middle of the kitchen. The door at the top right leads into a small boot/coat room before leading to the front of the house (the 'front' back door!). The washing machine and dishwasher are in the line of cupboards under the sink and there will be a full height fridge freeze in the top left corner currently shown as a cupboard in the plan view, currently hidden with a sheet in the last picture view. The cupboard next to it will probably be wider and will be a 'larder' type cupboard with double doors.
The view out of the window to the left is South East facing, the view out of the window to the right is North West facing.
Our proposed plan (view) is:
The wall cabinets on the right hand wall either side of the window are not staying and neither is the wall cabinet near the pillar in the top left corner. The pillar is now (or will be) flush with the rest of the wall. There is also the possibility of hot & cold water, waste pipe where the window is at the top (currently just wood block worktop).
The view of the cooker/hob arrangement showing the door which leads through to the dining room/rest of house:
The work in progress which also shows the back door and one of the windows (just visible in the plan view above):

IMHO..........and not a criticism in any way but I like to see a sink/water close to the oven and hob which yours is BUT you've got to cross an access area to get to it.
Think about carrying hot/heavy pans from hob to sink and bumping into a guest just coming into kitchen from dining room

Hi,
Just a couple of thoughts about the hob.
Are you likely to bang your head on the edges of the cupboards above and to the sides of the hob? They seem quite close and low.
Secondly, I've never found recirculating extractors very efficient, are you planning to run pipework through the tops of the cupboard and to an outside wall.
