Passat rear tyre wear inside edge
Discussion
I have a b7 ('11) Passat estate with around 82k miles which is the family work horse and I am seeing extreme wear on the inside edge of the tyres - down to below 2mm with the outside still at 4mm. Also there wavyness / ridges on the inside which creates a drumming noise on the m'way...
I am about to fit new tyres - is there anything I can do to stop this happening?
My first thought was planning to run at the higher pressures - 42psi.
Are the shocks knackered - if so how much are they to replace?
Or is the suspension joints (it passed the MOT not long ago)?

Have you checked the alignment on the affected wheel(s)? If not, that would seem s sensible first step.I am about to fit new tyres - is there anything I can do to stop this happening?
