We are off in a couple of weeks on an extended road trip round Europe in our motorhome and after getting stuck last year in a very boggy site in the dordogne I decided something better than an old mat was needed. Someone on here suggested an old bakery crate and it just happens there were a big pile of them discarded in a lay by near me. Chucked 2 in the back of the focus and after 10 mins with a jig saw I have the result below. They seems strong so hopefully we won't get stuck this year and have to be rescued by a tractor.

Ah ok, it's a good idea thanks, let's see how they do with 4 tonnes of autotrail sat on them. They are quite sharp on one side so that will go face down to bite into the ground. Smooth side up for the wheels to go on.

That's the way the slip mats that fiamma make come flying out the wheel arches when they no longer grip the slippery ground. These bite and provided you haven't caked the wheels in mud first they can get you out.

Also don't drive like clarkson, smooth and steady does it.

They look good, you could even use a couple of those in front of the access door if it's boggy, I might get a couple of those, thanks

Having got our 4tonne GVW properly stuck last Sunday I am looking for soloutions and will get some of these tiles to carry.
better than I resorted to:
walking to farm nearby
finding some 1.5mts long planking
returning to family
jacking the front tyres up enough to push/kick bash planks under tyres both sides
1st attemnpt got the MH Moving to a more suitable pitch.
note to self check better where you are driving smile

I also carry one of these things too just in case...

There is a video here too...

Fortunately I haven't had to use mine yet as the one time I got stuck the farmer who's site we were on, towed me out. Worth making sure that you have your towing eye handy and that it will screw into the mounting somewhere on the front of your MH. I also carry a 6t strain towrope too.

smile
