Twas the weather so a bloody good clean was in order. I polished the van last summer wit the Autoglym stuff shown, and the dirt virtually slid off.

Not bad for an 11 year old caravan.

I've been rejigging all the cupboards and fitting fancy tambour doors to my campervan. A spot of electrical bits and a damned good clean before an owners meet the weekend after easter. It'll be good to get out more now rhe weathers starting to improve.

Not a caravan man, but that looks a nice setup, surveyor.

I'll be spending at least one of the days this weekend giving Harry a good wash (and maybe even polish & wax) if I can bring myself to do so given that'll be a whole day wiped out.

Otherwise just a wash and maybe take apart the rooflight over the bed to see about fixing the flyscreen. I'll post some pics up.

I got the worst if the green off before we used it in March. boxedin

I'm not much of a polisher.

Just realised I have another job to do this weekend - fit new rear light clusters prior to the MOT on 20th!

Also picked up some Hammerite Smooth Black to paint the towbar and towbar carrier with as it's seen better days and detracts from the rest of the van with its peeling paint and rust spots. May get around to doing that this weekend; weather and time dependent.

So what I did today.....

Detailed interior of 530d (now looks almost brand new and certainly belies the 77k on the clock!). Sorry no pics as of yet.

Then set about a normal clean on the exterior. Came up looking nice with just some Chemical Guys Extreme Wash & Gloss and Megs Last Touch.

Then on to Harry. Had a hole in the nsr light cluster. I bought a pair as I knew one 2017 light cluster and one 2001 would look odd. Relatively straightforward; good job I took photos of the wiring before I unclipped everything though.

Top pic with the old one, bottom pic post installation of the new one:

Removing the old one left this; which I cleaned up with Megs Super Degreaser and polished up with AutoFinesse Tripple:

Top pic, old (osr) and new (nsr). And bottom pic - two new light clusters....

Then onto cleaning Harry - 2k miles of crud had taken its toll. Given the roof was pretty clean (the bit which normally takes the time), I had some time in hand to do some other bits once he was clean. Used GTechniq Tyre and Trim dressing on the tyres and odd bits of black trim around the place. And then turned my attention to towbar which had seen better days.

Out with a wire brush; got off most of the flaky paint and rust. Then sprayed liberally with Fenwicks Disc Brake cleaner to degrease. Then painted on Hammerite Smooth Black mental paint. Very pleased with the results:

Was so impressed with how this turned out, I then painted the underside of the two underbody lockers at the rear, which are metal:

After:

Ok, so doesn't look like much difference in the pic, but I can assure you it looks a lot fresher.

Now having taken the Hammerite out, I can see there are plenty of other applications which could work. I have ordered some Silver and White so that I can paint some of the under body chassis members which you can see from the side. This will freshen it up further and also protect the chassis members. There are also some metal lids to the under floor storage lockers which could do with some paint. I will given them some attention at the next opportunity.

I may also remove the Euroliners on the wheels and give them a tidy up with some wire brushes and paint silver as the steel wheels are corroding beneath the trims.

There's no doubt that touching these things up makes the world of difference to his present ability though.

Looks good. My sole contribution this weekend is that I created work to show in this thread....

Hahaha! Not so much created as motivated! wink

All of the stuff on Harry needed doing anyway. Bought another couple of tins of Hammerite and some wood paint to continue the Job on other bits of the underside which are now visible and looking unloved as a result of the towbar spruce up. I'm sure it's like painting the Forth Bridge!
