How many PHers does it take to hang a canvas?

I bought couple of original canvas "artworks" on gumtree recently but I don't know what the best way to mount them to the wall is? Ideally I want them flush to the wall which is a solid wall.

I've googled but it seems most canvasses don't have an internal frame which limits the fittings that could be used at the top middle - see below.

Any advice on how to mount it or what fittings to use is most appreciated.

Mine I've simply screwed horizontal bits of wood to the wall which the frame rests on.

You could also screw something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/picture-frame-hooks-mirr... to the frame and then fasten to the wall.

How heavy are they?

You could use a few of [url]these|https://www.amazon.co.uk/Command-Large-Picture-Hanging-Strips/dp/B00404YKZI[/url) - I've got them on a few (admittedly smaller) canvases and they are still on the wall.

They probably do a heavier duty version.

Put two screws in the wall, sticking out an inch or just a bit less deep than the frame is, and simply hang the frame on them by the top batten. Nothing more fancy needed.

I second Command Strips. I am in the process of moving and they come off great without any need to touch up paint.

I use Ali rails at ceiling level with one or two nylon hangers and small metal hooks for a picture. They come in 2 and 3 metre lengths. Saves all those bloody holes.

Canvases are light. All you need are two D-rings, two bits of string and two picture hooks.

^^^ This is what I've done with cheap artwork - wouldn't take much of a knock to dislodge it though

Command strips.... a friend of mine uses them extensively - to date I've seen three of her pictures fall wall off the wall which makes them cr@p IMO

I like the idea of battens mounted to the wall - you could add a dab of adhesive or velcro to the top to make them harder to dislodge.

This is a better way though.

Or a couple of this type of flush picture hangers?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/142065174743

You would only be a couple of mm off flush....we have used them a fair bit (can get bigger 4 screw versions for heavier pictures)

I'm not keen on how the artist did the large orange splodge in the top left corner. It really detracts from the whole piece.

Or drill a small hole from the top of the frame so you can screw into the batten. (I have a 6ft x 6ft canvas held up like this)

The other thing I've seen used are Alligator hooks, but then your frame is proud at the top. http://www.yourpictureframes.com/blog/picture-fram...

Screwfix sell rolls of adhesive velcro that's bloody strong. That'd work too.

^Simply this. If you end up with one nail/screw higher that the other just wrap electricains tape around the lower ones until all level.
