There are quite a few altcoins that are being given away for nowt if you link a Bitcoin address.

The newest giveaway is Stellar which started today and gives away coins to XRP and Bitcoin holders.

Bitcoin holders - https://www.stellar.org/lumens/bitcoin-lumen-progr...

XRP holders - https://www.stellar.org/lumens/ripple-lumen-progra...

There's also Bitcore https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1883902.0

And Byteball - https://byteball.org/ which will continue giving coins away every full moon for a few more months.

If you have coins lying idle, put them work for nothing. There may be a few others. If anyone knows of them add them here.

Yes it does with a Nano S. I have one too and managed to sign the required messages. You have to select the right address with the balance on from the list inside the chrome app. Then use the sign message function.

If you have a Nano I don't know how that would work but you should be able to do it through Electrum or Mycelium if there's no direct way.
