Brake caliper guide pin thread
Discussion
I worn out the threads on the caliper carrier bracket which the caliper sits on. Tried tapping it and the top bolt just slides through instead of tightening. Problem is the carrier bracket is part of the actual hub do I buy a thread repair kit? Similar to them help-coil kits or do I buy a hub?
It is an ATE style

That's not a normal thing to wear out. How did you manage to wear it out?
A thread repair is not a trivial thing and requires a certain amount of skill to do correctly. If you're prone to cross-threading or massively overtightening bolts, and tackle a thread repair in the same way, the results are not likely to be satisfactory.

dont be too hard on him , brakes that havent been apart in years can get scabby on the ends of the slider threads then drag it all through and kill the threads , just look how many slider repair kits are for sale
but yeah if in doubt its not an ideal place to practice your first thread repair , would be best to have a man in van round or if possible put a new carrier on
