Burst pipe responsibilty

Hi all,

Quick question....

I own a property which is half above another property. Its an ancient building and the main water supply into my house runs through the place below along with his in two separate pipes. The one that feeds my house split a few days ago and leaked into his house. I am just wondering whose responsibilty it is to repair he pipe and the pay for any damage as it's technically my pipe feeding my property but not in my house.

If its after a meter, it's yours.

If no meter, and its after the outside stopcock, its yours.

I would say, the responsibility, is yours. As long as neighbour hasn't wacked a nail in it.
