Neff Combi Oven Microwave rubbish? Miele alternative?
Discussion
Currently we’re speccing up our new kitchen diner to start works in the new year and we’re at the appliance selection phase…
The wife wanted a Range (however I think I’ve finally steered her away from this). We’ve now settled on a main oven, compact combi oven with microwave (so we don’t need a microwave on the worktop), warming drawer and induction hob. Up until this weekend I was adamant it’d probably be Neff (and probably graded goods), however I done a fair amount of reading about the Neff combi oven microwaves and there seems to be a lot of unfavourable reviews (surprisingly a lot on the Neff website http://www.neff-home.com/uk/productlist/ovens-comp... , generally being the power output seems a lot lower than what it is advertised to be and cheaper £30 microwaves fair a lot better.
For a little increase in overall cost I’d be tempted to go Miele if the quality of their combi oven microwave is better.
Does anyone have any experience of either/both?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I'm surprised about that, we've got a Siemens compact combi which has a 1000W microwave, it's pretty fierce and so much so that the wife is nervous of it and does most stuff on the 600W setting
As you may or may not know all Neff, Siemens and Bosch appliances are made by the same group and they really only differ by brand / appearance, the underlying appliance is pretty much the same.

In 2013, we went for matching Neff combi microwave/grill/oven and oven pair.
In 2016 the microwave stopped working. Neff sent a man for a fixed £99 call-out and labour charge to resolve the issue. We would have to pay for required parts on top of the £99.
He spent about 2 hours in our house trying spare parts before deciding that it was the waveguard at fault, and that cannot be replaced. We would need a whole new microwave.
Neff had re-styled their range since our model and they didn't have any of our style left in stock. Our only option would be a new model that wouldn't match the oven directly underneath. They would give us a few hundred pounds trade in on our perfectly working oven against a new one to match the new microware they expected us to buy.
We now have a £60 microwave sitting on the end of the worktop alongside a matching Neffmicrowave/grill/oven and oven pair.
We will be avoiding Neff in every future kitchen we install.

I did know they were all part of the same group, keen to know your thoughts on the Siemens gear as I think it looks great as well.As you may or may not know all Neff, Siemens and Bosch appliances are made by the same group and they really only differ by brand / appearance, the underlying appliance is pretty much the same.

Pretty pleased with the stuff we've got to be honest, we have a compact combi, plate warmer, and a single (full sized) oven. I don't want to jinx them or anything but we had the kitchen done late 2010 and it's all still going strong with regular use. Only issue we had, fixed under warranty, was the microwave part of the combi blowing an internal fuse for some odd reason. We have a Gaggenau microwave-combi and I have to say the microwave seems a bit light on power compared to our old Panasonic worktop microwave.
We only use it to warm up the children's milk at bedtime - takes 60 seconds to get a full sippy cup luke warm at 1000W. Not a science but gives an idea.
Main oven is brilliant as is warming drawer especially with kids, induction hob is amazing also.

Exactly this happened to us too. Neff were fk all help so I jjust fitted a black glass combi (Bosch) in place and celebrate the diversity. In 2016 the microwave stopped working. We have a Siemens Studio Line iQ700 compact oven and single oven.http://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com/uk/productli...

I have to say they are fantastic. The compact oven pre-heats really quickly, and it's so easy to use and keep clean. It's great to be able to avoid having a separate ugly microwave.
The only issue is that after microwaving, you often have to run the drying cycle as a fair amount of condensation has built up in the cavity, which I'd hazard could lead to problems over time (moisture in control panel, corrosion). BSH support will tell you if you enquire that you should run the drying programme after every time you use the microwave, which would never be mentioned in a showroom. If you're microwaving something small, then you can just wipe the inside of the door, but anything of a reasonable size will need the 10 minute drying programme.
Keep an eye out for ex-display. Got hold of each of mine for £600 (RRP £1860 and £1770); neither had ever been plugged in, and are a huge aesthetic and performance improvement on the mid-range Bosch double oven and integrated microwave that we were otherwise going to buy. Can't compare to other compact ovens / combi ovens as I didn't try them, but I can say that so far (3 months odd) these Siemens models are one of the best improvements in the remodelled kitchen.
Another one with a neff C17MRO2NOB type combi microwave. We really like it.
Have to be admit, we only every use it as a microwave but the 1000w does the job! Perfect at 60 secs for young sons 8oz milk to a goodness warm standard.
It combines with the neff slide/hide self cleaning oven makes it for a dead attractive & user friendly package.
