Came across this 488, prices seemed respectable for the mileage saving over £40k, owner claimed that the car had "minimal panel damage" and been inspected at ferraris, totally dishonest as a look on google with the reg plate brings up a whole new different story, sold through coparts, and they even claimed that CAT D cars are very light panel damage like there ferrari, must be a backhand fraud at insurance to categorize this car as a d, just warning to anyone else wishing to purchase this car be well aware of the actual previous damage or you could get burnt.

"very light damage" is very far from the true actual damage!

Just needs a bit of detailing, that should buff out.

Price doesn't compute, by the time you've repaired it the thing will owe you more than a Cat D car could sell for.

Cat D write-off means it's damaged beyond economical repair in the view of the insurance company. For a Ferrari that new to be damaged beyond economical repair suggests there's far more going on than the "light" damage that's visible.

The vehicles suspension frames twisted were the front wishbone mounts, from what ive been advised, ferrari would only replace the front chassis, but it could be twisted back into shape, which is whats been most likely done! As ferrari dont sell chassis parts and if they do, they have to be installed at one of there approved repairers.

far from "light damaged" as can clearly be seen from the picture at the insurance yard.

It always looks worse on a Ferrari because most of the front end is cosmetic. The cast suspension mounting plate and surrounding parts are all available and can be ordered with ease.

As far as repairs go it's not a bad job. If using second hand parts and not going through insurance it would be worth doing. The hugely inflated insurance repair costs usually render repairs non-economically viable.

That makes more sense, price wise. I though they were trying to shift it for £200k pre repair!

Um, are the panel gaps supposed to look like that?

I was all for saying don't judge cosmetics as it being some kind of death trap, but that panel gap is laughable!
