Self-assessment question
Discussion
Just doing our self-assessment returns for 2017 and referring back to my wife's return for last year I noticed that she failed to include the 'wear and tear' allowance against rental income last year.
Now its not a huge amount (~£300) and I know that that allowance is no longer allowed from 2017/18 onwards but is there any reason why I couldn't claim it this year retrospectively?
Any advice welcomed.

On the online form, Isn't there a place to adjust a previously submitted return? Now its not a huge amount (~£300) and I know that that allowance is no longer allowed from 2017/18 onwards but is there any reason why I couldn't claim it this year retrospectively?

It's not allowed for 2016/17 either.
Sorry, that's what I meant as I've just done the 2016/17 return!Eric Mc said:
You can always submit a "repaired" return for the year in which the Wear and Tear allowance could have been claimed. You have three years after then end of the filing deadline date for the relevant tax return in which to submit a repaired return.
Thanks Eric, I'll do that. means I can get the current returns submitted now.Eric Mc said:
