Got a strange issue with out heating. I have called out a British Gas engineer for Friday but would be interesting to know if anyone has seen or cr diagnose the issue in advance of his visit.

Have had Hive heating installed for about a month - two zones upstairs and downstairs.

Generally there is a big overlap in when we have both zones on so haven't noticed until recently that the downstairs heating seems to only come on when upstairs is on

As an example - I can replicate the issue using these steps.

I switch on downstairs heating either on a schedule or boost.

From Hives perspective all looks fine - the app shows the heating is on, the downstairs thermostat shows all is fine and the green light on the Hive central controller comes on. The heating temperature is way above current room temperature.

However the boiler does not fire up and the green 'Burner On' indicator on the boiler front does not go green. The downstairs radiators do not warm up.

Leave like this for 15 minutes or so just to confirm rads are not warming.

Then trigger the upstairs heating.

The boiler fires up, the 'Burner On' light turns green. The upstairs rads begin to warm. But additionally the downstairs rads start to heat also.

Does this sound like a wiring issue with the initial Hive install? I have an excess on the BG callout (under homecare contract) so will want to have it removed if it is a fault with the original install.

BTW no issue with hot water.

Cheers.

Just updating this in case anyone has a similar issue.

The problem was the heating zone valve actuator had become stuck.

As soon as he loosened the cover it released the mechanism and is working freely now.

Didn't need to be replaced.
