Hi PHer's

We are looking to get some heating for occasional use loft conversion/guest 3rd bedroom and hallway which is a bit colder than anticipated. Rest of house is gas powered central heating.

Laminated flooring will be replaced with carpet at same time probably, so do we get more plumbed in radiators, or go for modern electrics, Haverland etc?

At the moment I am thinking electric for loft roof, gas for hallway and not sure for guestroom. Not had quotes yet but just getting a feel for what is generally accepted wisdom on gas vs electric.

Gas=cheap, electric=dear, simple choice I would have thought.

Depends how often it is to be used.

I've got a similar situation coming up later this month as the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor do not have radiators in , just one on the landing.

Plumbed in is the better option if upheaval and money does not come into it but if they are to be rarely used, then an electric one will be far cheaper and easier.

Recent loft conversion, i have electric heating. Due to being super insulated, i’d be surprised if they were on more than 20 mins a day. The agg of running the pipework upstairs made it a no brainer.

No gas in either so heating has to be electric or oil (or LPG, or GSHP or ASHP)

We went (are going) electric radiators in both. No servicing every year, no smelly oil, no dirty tank, no pipes,

What you save on the installation more than covers the electric costs

Haverland are ok but check out "Economy Radiators" in N Yorkshire.
Michael used to import and install Haverland but now has his own kit manufactured in the UK and makes them himself

Tell him Tony in the yellow TVR told you.
