Stock spec at present?
Imo,start with a decent cone air-filter/induction kit & nice, tasteful s/s straight thru exhaust. You can decat this later if it appeals(track days only-naturally ).Should have your Mitsi growling a little more aggressivly!

Poss 10-15 bhp gain, however, you are allowing your engine to breathe easier. Can benefit'driveability',i.e.more freely revving, more torque.
If this route doesn't appeal. You can keep your original air-box & add cold air-feeds to it;either by drilling largish holes in the box to allow engine to suck in air more easily(careful not to have them too close/facing heat sources),or by feeding cold air thru pipes into the box from the grill(or similar).Ideally you want your engine to breathe as much cold air as possible.

HKS super power-flow will fit your car.You can get them in loads of places.
Exhaust, how far back do you want to go?
I'm sure most of the Jap after market manuf's will do a suitable cat-back sys.
If you want a made to measure, there's a few companies like power-flow that can will do.

For most modding parts try these guys,(highly reccomended)best prices-but you may have to wait as they are shipping from Japan.

can you adjust the ecu or does that only work on turbo cars ?

You can have the ecu re-chipped/optimised for your mitsi, but you wound need a programmable ecu, software & connection to laptop to adj an ecu yourself.

There might be better options for your car but i've heard god things about using the uni-chip from (after a quick web search), these guys.

www.dastek.co.uk/

They might be able to recommend a dealer/garage/rolling-road close to you who can set it up properly.
