Hopefully not required again this year! But I'd like to be better prepared for next time instead of having to use a garden spade.

Would rather not spend too much, but I don't want something that will fall apart after 5 minutes shovelling 2cm of snow. Any recommendations? smile

Used the standard B&Q one with wooden handle and plastic end and it’s lasted.

I picked up a couple of Spear & Jackson telescopic snow shovels late last year. Made clearing the drive after the recent snow falls very easy. The telescopic handle meant it could be kept in the boot of the car without taking up too much space.

£6.49 from screwfix (if they have any left).

Same here, but local DIY shop rather than B&Q. Think it was <£10 about 15yrs ago.

This winter alone, we've had 2 x 25-30cm and 1 x 10cm load, and we've got about 50m of drive. It's even coped happily with the compacted icy wall that the tractor/plough's left on the way past the gate, but obviously with a bit of circumspection.

I bought 6 from Aldi, £1.59 each around 6 years ago, had to go through approx 100 to find the ones that touched the ground properly.

I was thinking they wouldn't last long at that price, but still using the first two so still got 4 spare.

And if the plastic bit breaks I've a spare brush handle out of it.

Thanks for the suggestions, good to know a basic one can do the job thumbup

Might go for 2, and get a telescopic one as well as it could come in handy.

Snapped mine this year after 5 years of use. They are great for picking up leaves as well. Must get a new one.
