Wood/log burner - Any recommendations for good value?

I've got a contura 810 and it's great. Gets my ~80sqm living room (7x5x2.2) very toasty - have seen 26C on a thermometer at the other end of the room - and that's supposedly a 4kw nominal output!
Sorry you asked about price. I think it was around £1k.

In all honesty it’s the old adage I’m afraid, you get what you pay for. All you can do is look at the on-line shops for your best price. Beware of great looking stoves at low prices, they are usually made in China and imo rubbish.
You may be able to find a ex demo stove for a good price, worth a look around and good luck.

I've got my eye on the Saltfire ST1 Vision and Ecosy Panoramic 5Kw DEFRA stoves, although a little wary due to them being on the budget side and limited online feedback. A friend has bought the latter and it looks/feels good in the flesh.

That Ecosy panoramic looks good, and good that there is a video on the site, just a shame is so low! guess i could build a hearth for it to sit onEdited by IrateNinja on Wednesday 28th March 15:34
I've got a saltfire Hendon. Tiny little thing about 4kw in a new build room, 5x5m with vaulted ceiling about 2.4m rising to 4.5m. 26deg is normal after about an hour. £300 plus £150 for flue kit (connecting back of stove to underside of purpose built flue block chimney stack).
I'm not convinced by the you get what you pay for argument. It's a metal box with a fire in.
Glass barely fogs up but quickly cleaned with damp newspaper and ash.
Love it.

We've got a fireline stove (2 actualy) . Cost us £700. Its got big glass and great air control which the cheaper ones seem to suffer with. Its multi fuel to and we have done quite a few Coalburns now which is great.

It’s true for the most part, you do get what you pay for, within limits. Chinese stoves may look the part but the quality of the iron and/or steel is generally of much lower standard than Scandinavian or U.K. material. Also the supply of spare parts has to be considered along with I'm not convinced by the you get what you pay for argument. It's a metal box with a fire in.

design quality. The latest ‘airflow’ designs are far more than simply the steel box and grate. Secondary burning of gases offers low pollution and greater heat output. For me a stove is an investment.
Sorry if this sounds like I am preaching but honestly I want the OP to know some basic facts.
The OP would be well advised to visit a few stove shops where demonstration stoves should be burning.
Cannot praise this company and stoves enough

We have a Heta Inspire 45. Very heavily researched by S, and we're delighted with it, it's a superb piece of kit. When our renovation reaches the back of the house a second one shall be going in there.

Funnily enough I had an Inspire 40 (portrait version of the 45).http://www.fluesystems.com/shop/heta-inspire-45-hi...
We removed it as it was total garbage. Always made a very loud, persistent ticking/clicking/rattling noise which drove me mad.
They did replace it several times but they all did it.
Was sent back to the factory, who confirmed the problem but could not identify a cause or provide a solution.
How about this stove?

Good company to deal with too. I have had my Arada Farringdon 8, liner and all the necessary bits to fit from them. A friend has had two stoves from him too.
