This weekend we had a meetup at a mates house for a pre-Le Mans camp.... I stupidly believed my brother when he told me there was plenty of room to turn round at the end of the drive....

The result was a challenging reverse and exit, and a brother happy to document it in the hope of collecting £250.

Is it still stuck in the gateway? :-)

I never believe anyone when I ask if a caravan will fit!

Nope it popped out with about 1/4 inch to spare... I was very lucky that there was a bit of a driveway opposite that I could borrow...

My Le Mans planning on space is scale bit of cut out paper on two or three pitch layouts, Given I have three pitches would could end up with them grouped or in a line!

Last year didn't work as found a tap that prevent getting the caravan into place with a car, it was too sandy to push it so had to replan on the day.

I think we have about 11 pitches between us, and at BSJ - so no taps to worry about....

As someone who’d rather spend a weekend sleeping in an Albanian carsey than a caravan, I’ve never had to manoeuvre one, but from those clips, the guy didn’t do bad.
I’ve reversed 44 ton articulated trucks on and off ferries, through gaps with maybe half a metre clearance, more times than enough, but I take my hat off to the guy reversing that caravan.
I was in a truck park in Holland years ago, when a young Finnish guy pulled in, with a six wheel, (3 axled truck), pulling a rigid trailer on a draw bar, he swung in, and backed the truck and trailer between 2 articulated trucks, with less than a metre clearance each side, in one go.

It was the OP driving, I have a lot of credit for those that don’t unhitch and get the mover controller!

Towing a caravan with a van nono Can you tarmac my drive biggrin

Just kidding, nice work, I really need to get some practice in somewhere with mine but as it's only had one proper outing so far I've not had much opportunity. I cheat when I get to the storage place and slot it into place with the motor mover. Maybe I'll try backing it in next time smile

The van thing is annoying - but the only other option is my wife's Range Rover, whose gearbox is not as healthy as I would like. I'm trying to eak it out for a few months so have banned it from towing duties.

I'd encourage you to try without the movers.... I'm not a fan of them, band firmly believe that no-one should see them as anything other than convenient rather than essential. Having said that - I did wish ours worked....

Mine saves 5 mins parking on the drive. But does mean it goes hitch in with the door on the patio side as the other side is a muddy bank that’s handy. Paid £200 second hand and fitted it myself so as to not waste at £1000 on one.

Mind you I am away the next 17 weekends, albeit 4 of them for Le Mans so it’s going to add up those 5 min savings.
